NVP = NINJA VS PIRATE
Yer that's obviously a working title.
The point is, I was going to make one of these ages back. Now I have all these new ideas that I want to make it again, but I don't really have any time.
The basic premise is your average NvP, except I've incorporated a shitload of genres into it. Namely Fantasy/Anime/Sci-fi, as you do. It's set in fairly large solar system (larger than ours) with multiple planets. Residing in them are either the ninja or the pirates, except they will most likely go by different official names once I put real thought into this. That, and your generic neutral colonies which house plain humans (not necessarily boring humans, though).
As a result you can be either a Pirate, a Ninja or something else. I'd be introducing more factions that help with the somewhat undeveloped storyline.
Oh. And there are MECHs. Yes, I want mechs.
The thing about pirates is that all the powerful ones are cursed, as following tradition. When making your pirate just think of some sort of curse that gives them their abilities and I'd let you know whether it was gmoding or not. They usually acquire said curses through sheer luck or their endless pursuit for treasure. Oh and the uber powerful pirates are more interested in whole planets and their "ships" instead of just treasure.
The thing about their ships are that they're a mass collective of mechanised units that combine to form a giant war vessel. Pirates work better together while Ninjas work better alone. Captains might be an exception to this though...
Basically, supernatural abilities usually aren't enough so eventually the battles are taken to space in their mech units.
Ninja are similar except their mechs are solo units. Each genuine mech is about twice the size of the human, and serves more as an exo-skeleton than anything, which is why the pirates combine to fuel their raging desires for "bigness".
Ninja are more secretive, even among they're own. They're divided into sub-factions known most commonly as clans. Each clan passes down the special techniques of their family to their brethren, so each Ninja possesses the generic ninja skills of shuriken, ninja-to, escape techniques etc. and then they have their own unique traits that separate them from the other families, kinda like a bloodline jutsu if you wanna get into it.
Ninja mechs tend to be lighter and faster, with built-in cloaking devices and the like, whereas Pirate mechs are heavily armored and heavily armed period. Of course,in the end, the kind of mech that is piloted depends on the style of the individual, so I wouldn't want you to feel limited by this.
Summarily:
If you pick a -
Ninja- You'd get uber techniques that allow you to fight multiple enemies with relative ease. Techniques are based more on killing, eye candy-esque moves and escape maneuvers.
Pirate- You'd have access to your own crew (can be NPCs or some of your friends) and a massive war ship. Curses tend to lean towards ensuring survival rather than giving you great power. That's what your mechs are for.

The whole storyline would be kind of KOTOR in that we have our secrets and dramatic twists revealed during conversations on the planets or in a vessel, which usually leads to a cool human on human battle with their powers, which eventually leads to a cataclysmic war in space.
All I need is said storyline, people who are interested in joining, and most likely people who would like to help me develop this and take care of it while I'm afk (cos I probably will be a lot this year).
