| Dangerously Delicious | ![]() http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/50947538/ Hope it helps, guys. By the way, just noticed a mistake at step 2 of all steps. Add a layer mask and erase lightly with a soft eraser. I'll edit it in a bit. EDIT: Mistake fixed. Last edited by Veritas; 03/16/07 at 03:27 AM. |

| (E)motion Isn't Meaning | Don't use the line tool, either with the stock or an applied image select the marquee select tool and draw a rectangle on roughly the area you wish to capture, and then transform it to the angle, copy and then paste on a new layer... Clipping masks are hard to explain, but i personally think there brilliant, white = visible, black = non visible and you can just brush on to erase or de-erase |

| Dangerously Delicious | Layer masks are basically a way to erase parts of the tag without actually destroying whatever you had done. I like them because I can quickly fix layers if I decide I don't like the way something looks way after I did it(so I can't just quickly click my history and undo it). Chaywa is referring to those when he says clipping masks I think. In essence, it "masks", or hides, whatever you color over in black. I find it useful for vector shapes, renders, and textures because I hate to have to open up a render or texture again especially if I did something to change the colors of it before I worked with it or make a new version of the vector just because I screwed up the way it looked while erasing it. Line tool is under shapes. You just click and drag. The rectangular marquee works well, but I personally prefer to do line tool clipping mask. It just seems more precise to me. It also takes less time for me to do. Line tool allow you to make lines in any direction you want at any size without have to transform it or estimate with your eyes. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I prefer things that let me feel like I'm getting more precise areas. Clipping mask clips a segment of the image that you have to the layer below it. If you have a picture of a dog and a layer of text over it, the picture of the dog will show up in the text if you apply a clipping mask to the picture of the dog. Pardon me for not replying right away. I spent that night at a friend's. |
