.. every computer has a folder called Program Files. Go to 'My Computer' or 'This Computer' or whatever, double click your C-drive, and there you can find the folder called 'Program Files'. Continue from there.

Best brushes moved to tutorial section. =P As a result of a much needed Graphics Section Organization.

Learn to make your own, then we can call you somewhat of an experienced gfx artist.
At some point you always use things that are made by someone else, whether it's brushes, fonts, techniques, tools, etc. I don't think there's a fine line you can use to divide "experienced" GFX artists from the newer ones.

But eh, I can make okay sigs with someone else's brushes. Like I said, what matters to me is the outcome. As long as you've made enough changes and touches and such to a project yourself, whether you've used someone else's brush or not, it's fine with me. But I can agree, someone who makes good brushes is generally a better GFX artist than someone who continues using other people's brushes.

Cool text = simple text. What looks good depends on the sig itself of course, but don't try to make it too fancy. Generally a simple text works best.

Once somebody makes a good looking abstract grunge brush on elements...
I'll be impressed.

I agree techniques will always be copied, but to reach those techniques it takes skill and knowledge of the program. With downloaded brushes, you are taking the laziest way possible to make something that looks semi-decent. It's like I said, Point and Click. You don't know anymore or less about the program while using them. Thus, the experience is wasted.

Have you ever worked with the pentool? Vectored? Maybe even try soft abstract using 3d elements from another program? I can probably bet, you've mostly used clouds + grunge brushes. Did you know you can make your own brushes by smudging and using textures? You'd get the same effect as what you're downloading...also you'd probably appreciate it more. Also, you'd learn a thing or two.

But instead you insist on saying Downloaded Brushes = Talent. In which, I shake my head in disbelief and humility because you lack creativity and need someone else to hand it to you.

I've used the pen tool and tried vectoring. Many times. I suck at it, but I'm still trying. I've tried a lot of techniques out there, so don't think grunge is the only thing I do just because it's the only thing you see. I rarely show my non-grunge sigs to people on the forums, simply because I don't think they look as good as the grunge ones. When I make a good vector one, finally, I'll show it to you. Until then, I'm still practicing.

But either way, I never said someone was experienced if he uses someone else's brushes. I only said that those projects can turn out good, regardless of them using an own brush or someone else's. Imo, an experienced GFX artist is someone who can make decent sigs of all different styles. I don't mind if he/she uses someone else's brushes in some of them. But true, it shouldn't be his only way of making a decent sig.

Thank you Libra. Everything said here is true.

Whatever. We've seen views from both sides, but this is for people to come and try d/ling brushes. Whether they're "experienced" or not. I rarely use brushes at all anymore, but when I do, you can be sure it's not the only method I try. =/

It's not like I'm shouting out, "HEY! YOU HAVE TO USE THESE BRUSHES NOOOOOW!!!!" I'm just offering them for referance and use. The people who made these brushes didn't make them and submit them just so they sit there and rot. No, it was meant for "others" to use. If the original creators didn't want people to use them to their fullest, then they wouldn't have allowed the downloading by other people.

As stated, this is for people to practice with and learn. You can determine whether or not they're "experienced" in GFX or not. But leave that be and let them practice.

Anyways, let's try to keep the debates to the discussion forums.

=) I see nothing wrong with people using brushes. THose people put those brushes FOR people to use them.

I use brushes in about 75% of my signatures. Some of my best sigs dont use brushes, and some of my good ones do.

And indeed EVEN brushing uses skill. Blending the different colors correctly, I sometimes spend hours on signatures and the main highlight is brushes.

Making your own brushes is indeed a great under taking, but you couldn't wholly judge a GFX'er on if they use brushes or not.

Either or it takes skill, less or more. I do enjoy using other tools.

By the way, even using a STOCK is using someone else's work. =x For example, a Yuna sig was using a Square Enix pic, belonging to it. When you use Photoshop, your using something belonging to Adobe.

In the end brushes are fine if you only use others. And acknowledgable is you make your own.

I work the best with these.. probably because I made them xP
But most of the brushes here are really nice.

And I don't think I know any shattered glass brushes. you might need to like smudge to get that effect. =/
