Default Born Without

Hi everyone.

Religion is the somberesst of topics in the lives of people. It's the subject faced with the most awe, the most resistence, the most true thought in our lives. It's the one thing we cannot know anything about. We can't see it till we're there. But we will be there, because we all die. For that is what religion is about; beyond the social aspects, it is death made sacred by the human race. Just answer this one thought for yourself:

If you were born without, what would you be? Would you want a title? What would you believe? Most people inherit their religions like they inherit their traditions. But in the deepest, darkest place in your heart, what do you see? If nothing was given to you, what would you hear? We can all hear it, the very truest answer, unbiased, and completely alien to the suggestion of outside forces. So this question is a test.... tell me, what is the truth?

Don't respond to anyone else's post except this, because the truth someone else writes should not be argued, no matter how you dissagree. It also should not influence you.

A sign of maturity is not bashing other peoples thoughts. And besides, being so cynical and literal is odd for a Kingdom Hearts fan, don't you think?

Lawl.

You broke your own rule.

Anyway, if you were born without religion, you'd be born without religion. ._.

You're trying to create a problem when it simply isn't there. What Phoenix did would be analogous to:

Laki Larian: The Sun revolves around Earth.
Phoenix: The Earth revolves around the Sun. Good night.

Bashing your thoughts would be me saying, "It's stupid that you think someone's writing should not be argued." (in response to 1st post, last paragraph)
I'm sure you can tell the difference between what I said and, what Phoenix said.

I usually don't comment on these kinds of threads...but I figure I might as well have some fun.

I don't know about "the most true thought in our lives." But I would agree it is a very important, and often heated, topic of discussion.

I beg to differ. Just because it cannot be experienced via the five senses hardly means it is hardly unknowable. It simply require a strong and open mind if one wishes to research and come to accurate conclusions about the topic.

I think you are confusing "religion" with the the concept of the afterlife. They are not the same thing.

Quote:

Hardly. Religion deals with other subjects besides death; it is also evoked to explain other phenomena, such as human consciousness, sense of morality, God or gods, etc.

This post is incredibly difficult to follow. You switch ideas in the same paragraph. O_o

Quote:

Without any preconceived ideas of religion? The conclusions one finds depends on the level of reason they possess. For example, absent any other info, they will probably use God or gods to explain otherwise unexplainable phenomena, such as lightning, thunder, sunrise and sunset, etc. much like the ancient humans did.

Quote:
Would you want a title?
Uh...?

Quote:
What would you believe?
As I said above, absent any other information, scientific or otherwise, I would come to very generic conclusions...such as using God or gods to evoke and explain various otherwise unexplainable phenomena.

Quote:
Most people inherit their religions like they inherit their traditions. But in the deepest, darkest place in your heart, what do you see?
Um...nothing? The heart is not a terribly rational organ, and it is the home of all manner of hideous, evil things we humans prefer to believe we do not possess.

So, I would say we would see either a God-shaped hole...or the genuine hideousness of the human heart.

Quote:
If nothing was given to you, what would you hear?
Nothing except the call to do all the we desire, no matter who or what may be destroyed or damaged in the process.

Quote:
We can all hear it, the very truest answer, unbiased, and completely alien to the suggestion of outside forces. So this question is a test.... tell me, what is the truth?
There are lots of truths. There is no single "Truth." The human heart is a place where the most vile and hideous thoughts are kept. If we listened to our hearts purest desires, the human race would have destroyed itself long ago in its hubris.

Quote:
Don't respond to anyone else's post except this, because the truth someone else writes should not be argued, no matter how you dissagree. It also should not influence you.
Now...these sentences honestly have no rational or reasonable bases I can see. People usually don't know how to reason abstractly in any manner of genuine depth, so these kinds of questions will usually be filled will all sorts of inaccurate reasoning and assertions, so I hardly see how you can honestly ask someone to stand while someone's "truth" is anything but true.

Anatomical correctness is not a sign of maturity?

Being a fan of a Disney game makes you more apt to be able to hear the "...very truest [sic] answer, unbiased, and completely alien to the suggestion of outside forces..."? What? Are you trying to suggest that the content of a completely ficticious videogame should be taken seriously, or is somehow relevant to the subject of this thread?

If you were born with nothing you'd be nothing. But in the case where you have an environment to react with religion would stem from your own lack of knowledge. So in essence the very first religion to develop would be a paganistic religion of most likely semi-nomadic peoples. You could really just look at the evolution of religion to find your answer. If you mean for the individual, well its hard to say anything would happen as ideas and customs are formed by generations not a single person.

I thought about what I said and changed my mind. He actually answered the question perfectly. Sorry! I guess I felt it was a kinda harsh shut down of my attempt on a serious topic. It was the "good night" bit that sounds like "so there". But I repeal. That's his answer, so there. Sorry again.
