Seriously, of course there are flaws in religion. There always will be. Little loop holes, things that don't make sense, flaws, etc. etc.

There are things I don't agree with in Christianity, such as homosexuals = EVIL. I know a gay Christians. Hypocritical? Not really.

Anyways, yeah, Atheists can go ahead and say "There is no God". If it works for you, and makes you happy, good for you. Just don't come out and try to disapprove of God's existance to a religion.

No matter what 'ya throw out, most religious folk don't give a damn, as their faith > your logic.

I DO have a problem when atheists bash religion and call people who worship a god idiots because they just can't accept the fact that some people find solace in the fact that there is a higher power.

Atheists can very well accept the fact that people find solace in religion; that's why they could think them as idiots, because, from that pov, they are preferring solace to the search for truth.

That's if you want to define idiocy as that. I don't, I simply believe most people with religion have no interest whatsoever in facts and truth when the truth is ugly.

What the hell makes you better than us? I'm Episcopal, I go to church (when there's nothing good on TV), I believe in a higher power, am I an idiot? Atheists tend to boast "WE THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX" and "RELIGION ONLY CAUSES HATE".

Religion doesn't cause hate, it causes (willingly or not) ignorance because, even if they don't outright forbid it in modern times, it does not encourage critical thinking. It encourages faith.

One; good for you, you can think. It doesn't make you any smarter than those with religions.

If those with religions don't think (which you seem to imply in your first sentence), it actually does make them smarter.

Two; Aren't you turning tail and hating us for a change? That's stupid and hypocritical. If you're so free thinking why are you even denying the POSSIBILITY there is a higher power?

the same reason you deny the possibility for Santa Claus; it seems foolish to believe so and there is no basis.

Also, atheists don't hate Christians. How could they? They come from Christian families, have Christian wives and raise Christian sons, at least in this area of the world.

Generally, if Christian parents know their child is marrying an atheist, they wouldn't approve (devil, misguided, corruption, yada yada yada). Also generally, if atheist parents know their child is marrying a Christian, they usually wouldn't care and trust in their child's judgment.

Could you give me an example of an atheist hating someone with a religion?

My friends mom gave me a ride home the other day and the whole ride all she talked about was her church and God and she was listening to this preacher on the radio, then she asked me what religion I was and I told her that i don't have one (I'm agnostic) , so she said that she respects that and dropped the subject .

So not all christians are all in your face about religion .

Uh-huh... Yes, that's why Hitler was always praising Christianity and believed in many Christian views. He basically had his own other version of Christianity, which many other leaders have done and created modern christian beliefs. I like to think Atheism as more of a status than a religion. Atheists don't share a lot of views, the only thing in common is that they don't believe in higher power(s). Including god(s), spirit(s), and Joe.

I mean, he considered himself christian but hey.....c'mon .
he sure as hell didn't follow any of the christian ideologies . or catholic . or any sane ones for that matter .

No, he did follow some Christian beliefs. The thing was that he stretched and cut them to such a bizzare extent that they were his own beliefs. According to what he explained them, many people could (and did) interpret it the same way he did. Of course, interpreting exactly what the hell was going on in the mind of a man who probably had several diseases and a really stupid looking moustache, is irrelevant to the subject at hand.

I think it would be simpler to end it at that pretty much all religions and their followers are misinterpreted according to popular beliefs. Hell, most of America still think Buddhists worship Buddha.

Reguardless of whether or not OTHER Christians believe he was one of them, HE thought he was one, and that implies that he believed in some kind of God, even if he didn't follow the rules.

So, in short, Hitler saw himself as a Christian thus he believed in God. He wasn't a GOOD Christian, but he still saw himself as one.

People don't understand and they don't care to so they assume and usually what they assume is wrong. Being open minded is a hard to find quality when it comes to most people in any sort of religious sect, faith period

Isn't that the idea of a religion, though? To group together people that think similarly, if not the same, and to contain those ideas without question? Isn't that why it's called a 'Faith'?

I'm not necessarily blaming religion for ignorance, but it certainly assists its existence.

Faith is believing in something you can't see what isn't tangible.

I mean for me i believe as long as you have faith in something you're straight. Like i've said before in this thread people who have grown up never knowing who god is shouldn't be condemned to hell just because they're ignorant to his exisitence.

By ignorance I mean not knowing, not stupid.

These different factions obviously come from the same core, those essentials have just been tainted by human hand as they've spread across the globe creating the factions we know today. Trying to force someone to believe in something and shunning them for not doing so is wrong no matter how you look at it, it's hypocritical to say the least when you're taught to be compassionate and understanding to the opinions and beliefs of those around you.
