As an atheist, i dont believe in any supreme being, and i follow science mostly, i usualy cant believe in something unless you show me concrete proof of it. My view on this is quite simple. Atheism is a belief. If you believe in it, go for it. I'm a Christian, but I'm not going to put down anyone. I wouldn't want anyone putting down my beliefs, so I'm not going to put down anyone else for their beliefs.

That's Old Testament God. I was referring to the supposed changed God from the New Testament, which is when Christ dies to do away with the "Original Sin."

"Believe what you want"? That's a pretty weak philosophy. How about "educate yourself, and then choose"? Or "remain open to any and all possibilities"? Those sound better, no?

Atheism isn't exactly a belief. It's more of a lack thereof (Did I use "thereof" right? I'm trying to sound smart here).

Basically, because there really isn't any concrete evidence proving God doesn't get rid of the possibility altogether. Seeing isn't believing, that's why it's called faith. People have faith in a God even though he can't be proven.

Atheists choose not to believe in this, and they shouldn't be looked down upon for their decision, with the exclusion of poorly informed atheists, who are atheist for all the wrong reasons.

It’s good to know I'm not the only Atheist on the forums. I have gotten into many fights at school because I don't believe in a creator.

I have no qualms about atheism.

This is for the atheists who have to go balls-to-the-wall and are close to taking white-out to the Declaration of Independence because it mentions a Creator. THIS DOESN'T APPLY TO ALL ATHEISTS.

I DO have a problem when atheists bash religion and call people who worship a god idiots because they just can't accept the fact that some people find solace in the fact that there is a higher power.

What the hell makes you better than us? I'm Episcopal, I go to church (when there's nothing good on TV), I believe in a higher power, am I an idiot? Atheists tend to boast "WE THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX" and "RELIGION ONLY CAUSES HATE".

One; good for you, you can think. It doesn't make you any smarter than those with religions.

Two; Aren't you turning tail and hating us for a change? That's stupid and hypocritical. If you're so free thinking why are you even denying the POSSIBILITY there is a higher power?

I can see and know many reasons why people are atheist. I would say there are many good reasons for people not to believe in God in this world... But then there are even more reasons to believe in God too. The fact is that you have to do your research on everything, look around, sit down and really think about things before you just do what u feel is easier. Dont take things as face value.... Its easy not to blelieve in God... its real easy, people like easy. But is it right?

People will have faith and continue to believes in different things. People who accuse others of being wrong just because they don't think the same way they do are self righteous pricks. You have the free will and right to choose to believe in what you want. It's as simple as that

No matter what science proves there are still going to be those who believe in something else and vice versa.

Also all religion is hypocritical in some form or fashions

As long as you believe in something is the key, that's just my opinion on the whole thing though

Wow, congratulations to your father for being like, the seven billionth man to research God, and say "OMG SUMTINZ RONG HUR!11one!1".

Seriously, of course there are flaws in religion. There always will be. Little loop holes, things that don't make sense, flaws, etc. etc.

There are things I don't agree with in Christianity, such as homosexuals = EVIL. I know a gay Christians. Hypocritical? Not really.

Anyways, yeah, Atheists can go ahead and say "There is no God". If it works for you, and makes you happy, good for you. Just don't come out and try to disapprove of God's existance to a religion.

No matter what 'ya throw out, most religious folk don't give a damn, as their faith > your logic.
