I dont think there is an answer to that. If God created us how could we know? It's not like he had tea parties with Adam and Eve or something....makes you wonder.

Thank you. Exactly that, you can choose to believe whatever you like, but common sense points out to atheism because of the lack of proof.

I believe myself to be an atheist, merely because I would love to have a comfort like God, but that just sparks the thought in my mind that that's why he was created, to comfort and solve peoples problems. But I digress. My opinion on Atheism is the same as it is with all religions, if you believe in it, I have no right to try to change you, as no one should. In the time I spent with the Catholic Church I learned to realize that a lot of them are hell bent on trying to convert people, or that may just be on the east coast. If there is a God, I don't believe that you can teach who or what God is, which is another reason I refuse to go to church anymore. But please, no catholics take offense to my words. I am sorry if I offended you in any way.

I'm agnostic personally.

And I'm not going to get into any anti religion stuff, (this includes atheism). This is really the smart (albeit lazy) path.

If God were created, no freakin' clue.
If He wasn't (which is the obvious choice for any religious believer), He always existed. Further, if God exists outside of the realm of time.... It's hard to apply our rules of logic of existence to Him. Creation, etc.... It's logically impossible. Especially since our logic is based on the perceptions of this reality.

Again, the burden of proof. When it comes to such a statement as "God exists," it is completely subjective upon who to place the burden of proof. (i.e. atheists will say show me God exists, whilist theists will say prove He doesn't!). I realize, in most cases, existence of an object will be requested to be proven. However, in the case of God, an omnipotent being who does not even EXIST in the world in which we live, it is an absurd idea to request such proof.

As an atheist, i dont believe in any supreme being, and i follow science mostly, i usualy cant believe in something unless you show me concrete proof of it. But other than that i do believe in Karma (the principle of if you do good things, good things will happen to you but if you do bad things, bad things will happen).

Atheism makes sense, but gives me an idea of that person. Eh, I had a whole thing about atheists not realizing that they're actually agnostic, but whatever. It was kind of off topic.

I think atheists are just on a strict mindset that a superior doesn't exist ( obviously they are ). That just means their stubborn and aren't open minded. In a sense, atheism is stupid. You're denying the possibility ( EVERY single thing has a chance of actually being real ) that there could be a superior old man with a candy cane staff watching over you. Maybe not that exactly, but I think you get the general idea.

Atheists don't accept that there's a possibility of there being something more, something higher, an individual, an entity stronger, an almighty being that created us, etc. When, clearly, everything and anything has the possibility of being real and/or true. You cannot disprove something 100%. You can't. IE : the cup before me could be real. I can see it, taste it, hear it clank against my desk, smell the plastic, and feel its texture. Or, it could be fake, I could be making it up, and it isn't real. How do you prove either one and say that that is what it is? You could be wrong. [EDIT] This went on too long, and it was a circular type of explanation. Basically, you can disprove something, but how do you know your proof disproves it, and if you prove that, how do you know that that proof proves your original proof of disproving? If that makes sense to you, you're awesome, because I barely get it.

Atheism is just a path for close minded people who aren't open to ideas and possibility. When, clearly, ideas and possibility can't be eliminated fully and they will always exist.

Explanation for the creation of the universe is there. Explanation for matter? You are again assuming an explanation is needed. Analyze the following comment:

Matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed.

If scientists know they cannot be created, how do you expect a scientist to justify them being created? Using only that low, it follows that they must be eternal.

You're not thinking broadly enough. You think everything must have a beginning because that's what you're used to, and that's how you see the Universe. But we are not the Universe. If you cannot find an objective reason on why can't energy be eternal, then you cannot debate they had a beginning.

i do not shut out the existance of any supreme being, i just choose not to believe in it. Theres a difference . I am quite an open minded person, sure there could be a god or supreme being out there, but i feel i need proof for it. but of course, there isn't really any proof god doesn't exist. In my opinion, god was created by people, he DOES exist, but only in people's hearts. They look to him for guidence when they feel they have no one else to look to.

I mainly see religion as people of the pasts' explination to the unknown.
