personally, i believe that it really depends on the religion. Over all... now and days, i dont think it matters if religion exists or not, there will still be conflicts and wars. Today, how many things do you hear going on in the name of religion? as in wars etc? pretty much just the conflicts in the middle east. Right?

Less and less people around the world even give much consideration to religion anyway, especially to "Christianity"...

A lot of countries that used to have religious power going hand in hand with political power have also dropped these ties.

Mankind has dominated man to his injury and will continue to do so with or without.

Personally once again i believe that there WILL be a time where organized religion will no longer exist because the governments will feel that it may be in their best interest to get rid of these groups.

United worship having 1 religion probably wouldnt be a problem. However the conflict of many religions may cause untrust and maybe partiality towards other, but not so much the troubles we see today, that'll happen with or without religion.

For everything existing, there will always be two sides, the positive and negative. Your own existence might bring good to someone beside you, but someone might have a catastrophe because of your existence but you just didn't know it. The same goes with religion. Religion unites the people, but it also takes them apart. Religion had created peace, but all the same, they had brought chaos as well. So we should just live on and hold on to our beliefs, and die when the time comes...

Hitler justified it partly with religion, as most massacres are.

Again, Hitler used Social Darwinism. People different than them, were inferior. The Jews were killed because of their difference of their religion, but everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

How was God created if there was nothing? Surely God cannot create himself if he didnt exist to do it. and "because he is God" isnt a supportive reason.

So how did the universe start? Something can't come from nothing. Where does the "big bang" come from?

There's a lot of good that religion brings. There are a lot of mission trips that people go on, and not to just spread their beliefs, but to honestly help them and get them back on their feet.

Although some think it is good, i think not. The cliche's about holy wars aside religion isn't good in any way. If you aren't following the same religion like everybody else, you are an outcast. Nowadays that is less the case which is good but look at the past, it's only been 50 years max since we started to tolerate other views. The worst case is the witch trials, persecution for non-existant evidence. Also christianity is responsible for several deaths, people can't wear condoms or do birth-control according to the doctrine and hiv/aids is ravaging because of that, especially in the christian africa. And last but certainly as important: science. It wasn't until 1900 when churches finally didn't ban all science and everyone involved. Newton and galilea, liars, brache and copernicus, frauds. That was the general way the church thought about it and that is not something to be happy about.

Yes, religion has brought MUCH misfortune upon mankind, still, religion has done a lot of good too. The thing is, with or without religion, we would still see the same problems we have, maybe not in the name of religion, but in the name of other things.
