Ah, wrong. Understanding of life and death? Please, it's just fear of death. They're terrified of death, so they invent an eternal life in their minds. People who accept that everything will eventually die might be afraid too, but he will make the most out of the only life he has.

Also, helping others just so you can get to Heaven is not being kind, it's being selfish. Just wanted to throw that there.

Being in a religion doesn't make you happy, it can be torture as well. It all depends if your a believer or not.

I guess it depends on the person.
It feels very good to be "clean". It makes me feel good inside.

But I've never tried the other kind of life, so I don't know if it even really matters.

I just know I feel good. Sometimes I wish I could be more spiritual. I know I'll have to give up the mini-nun act one of these days. I can't imagine an uber-christian husband. Meh, we'll see.

It's not exactly wasted if you enjoy it. I enjoy the important part of mass, so I always go late and leave early.

True. Salvation is not on deeds alone. Anyone can walk an old lady across the street. That doesn't make them eternally saved. >_>
