Thus the reason I said it depends on the type of punishment and for what. I still think rules and guidelines have its place in religion because religion started out as a way of life - a society and I believe that's what it will return to. You are right though, God doesn't want people to serve him out of fear, but rather love.

But those who are faithful should be rewarded. Maybe hell actually is lack of heaven. They dont get the reward of heaven and by comparasin hell is torture.

Then Hell shouldn't exist if he wants love. If He was truly loving, He would accept that some people won't follow him. To those that do, they will get all the rewards. I don't see why that isn't possible.

Thus the point of this thread. Does a hell for punishment and torment exist or not according to the scriptures? That's the topic pretty much.

God will love them but its part of his plan. There will be a reason why. I cant answer it now but I know what I should do in life to make sure I am not left behind.

So, let me get this straight:

You follow God > heaven
You don't follow God > hell

Conclusion: God's a mercyless son of a bitch.

I was assuming we were thinking of it was a reality in this thread. Since most of Christianity tends to make it seem like it, I have to go with them. Also, leave the "plan shit out. If you answer with the typical God's plan bit, you have no business here.

It just confuses me. The Bible leads you to believe that God is a loving and benevolent being. But in the same breath, He turns into hardass. You can't claim the former and be the latter too.

No. OP made it clear that I do not believe in it and was asking people's views on Hell - real or not according to scriptural teaching. Thus the reason this thread was generally for people who do believe in the Bible because they may be a little more adept at explaining why they believe so.

No you don't. Most do. That's why personal research is important.

Is it the Bible that leads you believe that?

Mmm, I'll help with this one, although I'm pretty sure ulti has a better answer.

Christ's teachings tell "God loves you" and shit.
Yet, if you're gay, by God's eyes you should die and your blood should be put on your head.
Fucked up religion is fucked up.

Btw, you're 21, you should be smart enough to realize that =/

Pratiko - can you please give your rant against religion a rest? People are trying to have a dignified discussion here.

You didn't get me upset. You just aren't adding anything to the conversation so I have no need to reply to your comments. All I keep seeing is loads of cursing - cursing God, cursing homosexuals, cursing religion. What I see is trolling. Ever wondered why some of your posts have been deleted?

If you are going to participate please do it in a way that is within the lines of the forum rules and try and stick to the topic.

Partially I suppose. The Bible and particular followers. Still, it is written on one page He loves everyone but then turns someone into salt on another. It just seems weird to hear that God loves you but is willing to destroy you if you do wrong.
