Rep Power: 8 ![]() Level: 32 EXP: | Armageddon. Movies have been made and books have been written about it. It strikes fear in many and means nothing to others. There are a vast number of ideas on what Armageddon is, when it will happen, etc. What do you think it is and why? How do you personally feel about Armageddon? This is directed especially to those who generally believe in the Bible or religion of some sort. Especially those that incorporate the idea of Armageddon. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | I feel that it will definitely no be in our time. But if it is I hope it will be evidence of a religion being true since I'm atheist and I it would be cool if some force could ensure me heaven. The thing is there is so many things out there that could kill all of us, and it seems we're the only thing here, though if our planets is blown up will just give the universe another chance to make life, possibly more than us. |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() Level: EXP: | Well outing nuclear war and the sun engulfing the planet in 5 billion years... The collapse of civilized society by some means. Culture, science, and literature being destroyed. Though all Armageddon is a great change or conflict. |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() Level: 32 EXP: | An interesting piece on the History channel was on today about Armageddon called Countdown to Armageddon. No doubt I didn't agree with maybe 75% of the information that was given in the piece because a lot of the information came from religious doctrines that I do not believe. But it still brought out some interesting points. It gave a run down of people's thoughts and teachings on Armageddon or "the end of the world" through the centuries from Jesus' day down to our day. In addition it kept a close eye on the book of Revelation and the vision of the apostle John. While the documentary did acknowledge various views and that there are constant debates on the interpretations of the scriptures it went along with the general and most widely accepted interpretations of the book of Revelation (which goes without saying, I am not among that group of going along with the most widely accepted views). While the documentary was on I kept my Bible close and several resources and my computer as well close by so that I could do some research. I won't go over the WHOLE documentary but I did like the part where they were talking about the "four horsemen of the apocalypse." They gave the interpretations as follows: The White Horseman - War and destruction. They went on and gave all the horrible statistics of war especially in the 20th and 21st century. (My personal belief that this is Jesus riding on this horse and He does proclaim war but a righteous war) The Fiery-Colored Horse - Disease. They gave a run down of disease that plagues humans and what scientists predict of disease in the future. (My personal belief is that this horseman symbolizes war and not the good kind. So pretty much their interpretation of the first horse) The Black Horse - This point I agree with the interpretation that they gave. Famine and once again it gave statistics. The Pale Horse - I also agree that this one means death. They did focus a bit on volcanoes but my understanding of the scripture is death period, from any source. Countdown to Armageddon DVD, Shows Nostradamus , HISTORY Shop Countdown to Armageddon It's an interesting bit I think that some people might want to look into even if you do not agree with most of it like me. I do believe that Armageddon is fast approaching though. Last edited by Forever Atlas; September 7th, 2009 at 07:38 AM. |

The 21st century has plenty of problems, sure. But if our yardsticks are war, disease and famine, I really don't see any sign of an impending apocalypse. | |||

Rep Power: 8 ![]() Level: 32 EXP: | Yeah, I'm not going to debate those points because there are so many contrasting views on statistics. Some stats say this is the worst time and others say its the best times. Both sides secular sources. Not just that, I did say I didn't agree with most of the documentary, it was still an interesting program though. Personally I feel that Armageddon is going to be God's final war against all wickedness on Earth. Wiping out all pain and suffering for those who desire to live in a peaceful world under God's rule. A lot of people (like they even mentioned in the documentary) believe that it will take place in one small spot. But I believe this to be a global war. Pretty much a global destruction of all badness on Earth. Other signs not just those of the four horsemen also convince me of its nearness. I know not everyone agrees with me and that's fine. (also doesn't mean you have to try debunk everything about my beliefs) “The War to End All Wars” Armageddon—A Catastrophic End? |
