Default How? Why?

How did you come to your current conclusion about your current religion, or lack thereof? Why do you have this attitude about religion? Why do you (dis)believe?

Given that I'm only sixteen, it might be a bit early for me to make decisions on something as big as religion right now, but I'm likely never going to be a religious person for one, if not both of the following reasons:
1) Counter-intuitive to me ideology of continually seeking the truth, which is obtained through observation, examination and questioning. As opposed to, say, the teachings of a book that hasn't changed in the past 1500 years
2) Too many horrible and/or pointless things have been done in the name of religion, or by people under a religious conviction.

I use to hate God because i got a back injury in 7th grade in Cheerleading and had to have to two sugerys and well it really messed up my life. then one day my mom asked me if i wanted to go to church to a revival and i usually would say no but some reason i said yes. I just had this feeling. Then during church i got so sick of this feeling of guilt and i just wanted to be forgiven. So i prayed at the alter and i said i was sorry and then the unbearble guilt just disappeared and i knew i was saved. And that is how I became a Christain. The End :)

Well, there are two reasons. One thing is that, i never seen or heard any god, or whatever ideas some have. Not having seen or heard it, there is no reason to assume it's there. Second has to do with school. I've had, and still have an awesome physics teacher and he begins every new year with the same word. He tells us to think logically and be critical of what we are told, by our teachers too. If we question statements and those claims can't be backed, he said just forget them. Of course he was perfectly able to answer our questions with clear language without needing vague and dodgy language. I have yet to see any religion answer some of their major errors without coming up with prepostorous claims which just raise new fallacies.

I've never at any point gone to church on a regular basis. My mother claimed to be a Christian, but she never really brought it up unless the subject came up, or she used the comforting lies "good people and pets go to heaven, God watches over us" etc. My father didn't talk about it until later and revealed he was an atheist when I said God makes no sense. She was raised Lutheran, he Catholic, both strict Church goers with many siblings.

Because religion wasn't fried into my brain, I realized that it was not logical, and became an atheist (agnostic to my friends, deist to my extended family and mother, lol). The few times I was forced to go to Church, it registered as mindless gibberish.

I was never very devote as a christian, but at some point I just didn't really find much sense in what I was being told and felt that it placed too many unnecessary restrictions in my life.

I was born and continue to be raised Catholic to this day, but after I was Confirmed (something I didn't want in the first place; it just made my mother happy), something began. I began to wonder about how God worked, and as my mother started to go back to Puerto Rico to visit family, I was left exposed to my father, and he would often explain to me why he was an atheist.

If I may ask, did you grow up in a religious environment? Or, did you experience a "miracle" of some sort?

No epiphany if that's what you mean. Miracles, I would say yes, I have had a few of those. Nothing in a major sense though. Anyway, I grew up around religious people. However, that honestly didn't really impact my choices because my views are quite different than theirs as it is a mixture of people with a vast array of beliefs.

Still my main reasons are from study, experience, and testing out the faith and it hasn't faltered. I could write a book if you wanted a detailed answer, but I hardly think that's necessary.

That being said, I'm not completely sure on what I'd classify myself as besides an Anglican/Episcopalian with some sort of inclusivism.
See: Life of Pi.
lol.

Spiritual connection has to do a lot with it too, and I've personally felt healing from praying and meditating; and there's something about the ideals i've been taught that just feel right to me.

I would probably still be in the dark if I never opened myself up to the ideas of religion or prayer, it's kind of hard to explain it.
Especially when church was just this thing I had to go and sleep through as a kid. It's a lot different once you actually, well, listen and try.

It's not the only religion I've studied but it's the one that when put to the test doesn't cave and that I personally feel has most of the important answers to life. It's kinda hard to explain. It's more of a believing is seeing type of thing. But its not like i went head first and believed everything I read, takes time, and I still am in the learning process. Now when you say Christianity, this is to no offense to anyone else, but it is not Christianity in general because there are several other Christian sects that I've studied and do not agree with at all.

What exactly do you mean by "put to the test"?

And you're a JW, yeah.

Don't like religion because of the problems it causes and because every religion adds useless shit to everything but still focuses on the focal point of loving a supreme being.
I do believe in God, but not religions.
