| Don't be afraid to go too low | So, suicide. Is it a forgivable sin? This can go for any religion, really, but I'd base it most on Christianity. |

| Duke Millenium | All sins are forgivable if you ask repention. But can you repent before the act? After the act? Is it possible to repent after bring dead? But how can you repent for being dead if you're dead unless you're not dead? But that would imply that you re not, in fact, not not dead, so there is nothing to repent for. But if you're actually repenting over it, that means you you're dead while being notdead? TIME PARADOX. OH SHI- FBDGVFSFDBDGERrgyuhvfghdj....... Or you're a zombie. In conclusion, zombies can ask for God's pardon. Last edited by Phoenix; February 17th, 2009 at 07:33 AM. |

Rep Power: 11 ![]() Level: 46 EXP: | Suicide =/= sin. Not in my book. Of course it's wrong to commit suicide, but only wrong towards yourself. However, it's the world around the person who commits suicide that convinces him/her to do it. Of course not everyone is to blame, but someone or something is always the reason or one of the reasons why someone makes the decision to commit suicide. It's more of a waste than a sin. It's really sad. Is it forgivable? It DEFINETLY is, because it doesn't need any forgiveness. It needs compassion from the people around that person. |

| Crimson | Is it a selfless act that led to the suicide? ie attempting to save someone else and the end result is you dying |

Rep Power: 9 ![]() Level: 18 EXP: | How could you commit suicide trying to save someone else's life? Unless you're Will Smith. seven pounds, watch it |

| Crimson | Doesn't necessarily mean it's self-inflicted suicide. Push someone out of the path of one thing and you get caught in the path instead. Technically you killed yourself by saving that person. |

Rep Power: 9 ![]() Level: 18 EXP: | Then that's not suicide, that's sacrifice. su⋅i⋅cide [soo-uh-sahyd] Show IPA Pronunciation noun, verb, -cid⋅ed, -cid⋅ing. –noun 1. the intentional taking of one's own life. I doubt someone decides in a fraction of a second that he's willing to give his own life to save someone else's. Instead, pushing someone out of the path of a bus is meant to save a life, but not to end their own. |

| Crimson | And in the case that you know doing said act would probably cost you your life? Or really just any act that has the risk of death? |

Rep Power: 9 ![]() Level: 18 EXP: | That's why I hinted at Seven Pounds, someone who consciously and willingly gives his own life to save that of others. But from my perspective, suicide is only suicide when you attempt to take your own life regardless of that of others, while throwing yourself in front of a bus for someone isn't done with the intention of killing yourself. The idea is to keep another life from harm, but not necessarily to end your own. |

| CARAMELLDANSEN!!!!!!! | Okay, here's my opinion. I wouldn't say it's neccesarily correct, but it's what I believe. Murder is considered one of the worst sins, agreed? Suicide is, in essence, murdering yourself. Only God, or whatever 'higher being' there is (or isn't, ie Fate, Destiny, etc.), has the right or reason to take a life, so even if you 'ask for forgiveness' before-hand, it doesn't matter. The point of repenting is to be forgiven and to change your ways. If you're forgiven before you commit the crime, it become completely null and void, and therefore, you are not forgiven, and will then be punished however it is we get punished after death (ie no seventy-two virgins, or H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks). So suicide is murder, and you cannot be forgiven before you commit an act, especially if you intend on completely fulfilling said act. In my opinion, this counts not only for murder/suicide, but for all sins. If you are forgiven, and then you do whatever it is anyway, your repentence means nothing in the eyes of God or whoever is is you say is up there, or wherever. Either way, Stavvy, please don't...I love you. Then again, everyone has they're own opinions and ideals, but there is mine. Do with it as you will. Thank you. |
