I'm curious about how Christians on KHI feel about this. Are you a Vegetarian? Do you believe differently, that God encourages meat eating? Please share your thoughts on this.

In Religious Studies, we learnt that there are two different Christian views.

One - Encourages meat-eating.
Two - Loves every living thing.

My Christian friend is a carnivore, and she's the most devout person I know. Seems a majority of Christians either don't care about meat-eating, or they believe God...doesn't particularly mind it. :/

I've seen the argument that God allowed meat eating at the time of Noah, but at that point it was either that or starvation, and in this age that's not the case.

This is not true. What do you think they ate back in the Biblical times? Yeah, they ate meat. That's all they had.

As a Christian myself, I have never ever heard of this and this is wrong and stupid.

Not true. Figs? Also in the garden of eden to kill an animal would be a sin. All Adam and Eve ate were fruits and vegatables. But after eating the apple and God kicked them out of the garden he killd a sheep to clothe the two humans as they now knew they we're naked. If you look at it like that God may have never intended for humans to eat meat.

You haven't heard of it because meat eating is part of human nature and Christianity like the other major religions appeals to the masses.

At least I think, I'm waiting for someone to give an actual response.

I guess that makes sense, but I was picturing the times of Jesus and such. I would imagine that they all didn't eat meat, that would be ridiculous. I have no factual evidence or anything I just can't imagine that.

Agree. I don't think God encourages us to eat meat but just allow to. I read the Bible and I don't see anything telling God do that.

I'll give you a response.

I eat meat. I believe god put animals on this earth for us to enjoy. How you enjoy them is up to you. I can't really say god encourages meat eating, but I can hardly say he's against it.

But who am I, but a mere mortal?

edit: I read through a few of those quotes from the bible, and most of them are absolute trash (for supporting the fact that god wants us to be vegetarians). Those verses can be taken many different ways.

Of course God encourages being an omnivore, he created the flora and fauna on the planet for us to lead, take care of, and for us to munch on :>
Jesus and his buddies went fishing, the Jews slaughtered lambs, God often blessed people in the Bible by giving them food when they prayed, including animals.

That was an example to say that believers should be all encompassing in their faith.

True enough that God has allowed meat eating, but in his ideal paradise, the Garden of Eden, Adam did not eat the animals, he was their caretaker. Only when it became necessary for humanity to survive did he allow meat eating. In this age, in many places that is no longer required.

In Genesis 1:29 He tells Adam and Eve that they and all the animals can eat any seed bearing on the face of the earth

In Genesis 9:5 God makes a COVENANT with man saying that all living creatures are to be food for them as long as they dont eat the blood. But because its a covenant God made that means that it is unconditional.

All this obviously doesnt matter if you dont believe the Bible is true, but for the sake of simplicity lets just say you do. ; )
