Rep Power: 5 ![]() Currently playing: with myself Level: 16 EXP: | People's views are just too unique to be categorised into one broad "label". State, in a sentence or a paragraph, or even longer if you feel necessary, what you believe/don't believe, and how you view the world. What/who inspired this? How does it affect your life and the lives of others? And do you care? Stuff like that. Well I'll probably edit/add more to this later... I believe God creates so much more trouble for the world than he does to help it. Whether you believe in him or not is irrelevant. The concept of God and other figures like him; this is at times more real than people who actually exist. People will die for their beliefs. Who would die for you? Seriously, I'm not trying to be insulting. Because I have friends who I would die for, and I believe in them. I seek an absolute truth, but I accept that a lot of "truths" are subjective. I try to put my past behind me, it's never coming back, and look toward the future, however daunting. I accept that my way of life is flawed, but I don't believe that the perfect way to live our lives has been realised yet, by anyone. Otherwise we'd all be living that way. Now... justify your existence! |

Rep Power: 11 ![]() Level: 46 EXP: | I posted this in another topic, but it pretty much sums up my beliefs. To me, having such a belief is like a comfort you need in life, knowing there's something there, some rules to abide to, something bigger that watches over you. I don't need that. I don't need to know there's something there because I know there's something there. I don't need rules to abide to because I know very well what is right and what is wrong. I'm a very stable person and can easily understand how someone else feels. I don't see through my own eyes all the time and try to see through someone else's eyes. I don't need someone bigger to watch over me because I am very happy with the way life plays out. I'm not afraid of death and I know that things will happen the way I need them to happen, as long as I fight for it. If there was a God, he'd have left ages ago. Look at the mess. Look at the climate we screwed up. Look at the society and social stability we screwed up the last 2000 years. Look at the planet's stability we screwed up. Look at teh suffering that we established and know of in Third World countries. God is nothing but an instrument to feel safe, and frankly, He does not make me feel safe at all. | Dead Center | I don't believe in any kind of God. Lots of things that are mentioned as God's doings have been explained logically and scientifically, that is why I see no reason to believe in him. I would also like to add something, that has been bothering me for long: Let's assume that God exists, and he acts the same like he's told to act in the Bible (yes, I have read it, even though I don't believe in such things). First he is all like: "Oh, I love mankind, I want them to be happy." After a while he hates all the people that walk on Earth and destroys them with a giant flood that drowns everyone, except the ones who believe in him. That's just wrong; he sounds like some kind of a dictator to me. "Do what I say, and you won't die." Then there are people who have said, that mankind is bad, and they have to beg for mercy from God. It seems he likes to see us suffer and cry for salvation... But wait, didn't God say, that he doesn't want to see us suffer? The whole thing is in huge discordance; or then it just means that God is bipolar. If God hates people, why didn't he create them better? This all feels just so unlogical. The things that do not have any scientific explanations? I do believe in supernaturalism. Not in a religious way, though. You know, like ghosts and spirits etc. (now you must think I'm some kind of a weirdo...) In my opinion, something paranormal and magical does exist, and that is the reason why some stuff can't be explained scientifically. If there's something weird in my post, please tell me. |

Rep Power: 11 ![]() ![]() Level: 26 EXP: | Okay, back from school, and ready to state dem beliefs. I used to be Catholic. Born, baptized, taken to Church whenever you were supposed to. Confessions, Communion, the whole shebang. But then around age 13, when I was to be Confirmed, my catechist told us there would be an interview with a priest, and that it was more than likely we would be asked why we want to be Confirmed. When I was asked the question, I regurgitated some rehearsed BS, when the real answer was, "My mother is forcing Catholicism down my throat". After I did get Confirmed, I started thinking more about the faith as a whole. Why would God be such good friends with the people of 30 or so AD, but leave the people of the 21st century to succumb to famine, war, etc.? Not to mention I was more inclined to believe the Big Bang theory and everything prior to this questioning of my faith. Then, recently, my grandfather passed away. What just God would rob my grandfather from my family? What loving God would throw the family into emotional turmoil like that? Factor in the fact that, in my experience, Catholics are, for the most part, quite bigoted, and you've got yourself a 15 year old atheist male writing this post. |

If a kid does something wrong then the kid must be punished so he does'nt do it again. If humans do something wrong then God must punish us so we don't do it again. He's trying to teach humanity that if they are evil or turn away from him then they must be punished, and if they are good then they will be rewarded. Try becoming a christian and doing what the bible says and see if your life does'nt get better eventually. Bamak93: God took your grandpa because it was his time to go. He's alot more happy now than he was on earth. If you want to see him again, I suggest you become a christian again. Cause heaven is alot better than this world.

And as much I want to believe that there is an afterlife like Heaven, I doubt it. If anything, we create our own personal afterlives based on what/who makes us happy. But the accepted theory is that you decompose in the ground/return to the earth/whatever you want to call being buried.

| the dank | My belief is that there is no god, but if there were I would imagine him as this: A country scene, a racoon is running through the forest. You hear gentle patter of feet as it moves across the leafy floor. BOOM! A one-toothed man hops out of a tree and picks it up. His face is red and he smells of whiskey and tobacco. "Yeahoo I caught me a coon! We're eatin tanight!" That's what I picture God to be if there were one, a giant douche. That's just the opinion of mine because of the way I was taught about God. I was raised by Catholics, so my view of God is totally fucked. The Catholics I grew up with were extremists and made me resent religion, and I have never felt a connection with a God, especially after I see, and have tried myself, praying for someone dying, only to find out an hour later that they've kicked the bucket. Or when someone gets a disease or gets shot or hit by a car, it's like a giant Fuck You! from the guy upstairs. |

Rep Power: 8 ![]() ![]() ![]() Level: 20 EXP: | I'm Catholic, but not nearly as strict of one as some of those extremists out there. I believe that even though Christianity is the true faith, people who lead good lives belong in heaven as well. And I don't believe that the everything the Pope says is correct, especially not the current Pope. |
