Do you have any CONCRETE evidence that another life exists? Other than the fact that an irrelevant 2000+ year old document tells you?

I'm more of a scientific mind; ie i need proof before I believe something. I have no proof that God/Heaven exists, therefore, they don't.

I'm really more of a logical thinker myself, but you need something to look forward to after all of the trials of life.
So, whether it exists or not, I'll at least hope for an afterlife; it motivates you through life. And you really shouldn't put Memory Master down for caring about you, bamak, even if it isn't in the way you'd like him to. Be a little more tolorant.

Their is the fact that thousands of people have experienced both heaven and hell and returned. Are you saying that all those people are lying? Because it seems unlikely that thousands of people would lie about it.

I think the opposite way about the afterlife. There isn't one, so you should be motivated to do as much as you can with your one chance.

Ah, here we have a reason behind your beliefs. But before telling you my stance on this, would you mind further explaining the circumstances of your grandfather's death. I realize it may be hard, so take your time if need be.

Well, I'm not saying that I don't believe in either heaven or hell, but quite a few of those people were greatly traumatized, and may very well have been hallucinating.
Anyways, let's try and keep the peace; when speaking of religion, we shouldn't be arguing and trying to persuade those with different beliefs than yours, but rather stating what you believe and don't in a civilized manner, state your reasons why, and leave it at that. Both you and bamak should try and be a little more respectful of each other. And if you can't do that, then I suggest you leave, because people are willing to argue about their respective religious beliefs until the end of time. Just look at the Crusades.

Basically, I'm atheist.. though I sometimes. feel that something.. just something (or someone) had to start the big bang and maybe watched over evolution, as it progressed and made the necessary changes for *insert animals* to survive the changes ahead. In other words, I do sometimes think that there might be a god, but I fully believe in the Big Bang, Evolution (How can something with so much evidence (like a dino) not have existed?), Abortion (because I think women should have control over what they want to do with their body.. as long as the fetus is 2-4 months old..), and Gay Marriage. (because of several reasons I've stated in the Prop. 8 thread..)

My beliefs are similar to Silver-J's: I believe in the scientifically-proven processes that created our universe, but that a divine being sparked them, being able to foresee which events would lead to one another. And I use the beliefs of the Catholic faith I was raised in as guidelines as to what this divine being wishes. I still don't approve of gay marriage, though. But it's not going away, so I try to tolorate it as best I can.

I beleive in the samething as you, but that he is more invovled in things than just watching them. And that there is an afterlife.

Well I believe it's both God and Jesus you must accept. I'm not asking for everyone to become a devoted church goer, I just want people to say I accept Jesus and God as my saviors and I want them to forgive me(And actually mean it.). That's how I believe we get into heaven.
