Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | Well, I'v heard that according to beliefs in Scientology, they don't believe that the mental condition "Autism" exists, that it's not real (Another thing I heard is that they believe people with disabilities, and homosexuals are "lesser beings"). This never really became that much of an issue with me until I heard about the whole situation involving John Travolta's son. Jett Travolta was diagnosed from a young age with "Kawasaki disease" (And it was even believed that he had autism) but from what I heard, the church of Scienology refused to acknowledge this. And of course as you all know, Jett Travolta suffered from a seizure, collapsed and hit his head on the side of a bath, and was killed. So because of all this stuff I'v heard, I'v sort of developed somewhat of...a grudge towards Scientologists (For example, I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise). There are people I'v never had a grudge against, I'v never really had anything against John Travolta, sure I'v known about his starring roles in "Saturday Night Fever" and "Grease" (I'v never actually watched those films, but I know about them) and I was kinda looking forward to seeing the new Disney movie, "Bolt" (It doesn't hit the UK till Febuary) but know, to be honest, I'm a little put off... And another thing, I only just found out that Nancy Cartright (Bart Simpson) is a scientologist. Nancy is a person I'v always respected, because of her role as Bart, but I only just found out, and my first reaction was along the lines of "NO!! NOT NANCY!!" Not that this is relivent, this I'm just using this as an example... Anyway, I started the discussion talking about them not believing Autism, this is in fact because...I have Asbergers Syndrome. This is something on the "Autistic Spectrum" as they call it, which is reletively low down, meaning I'm not the sort of person who you'd describe as..."a big retard" (Thats probobly not very politically correct, but I couldn't find any other word to get my point across). I'm pretty much just like any other person, the only differences being it's not very easy for me to socialise with people, I'm shy, if you like... Anyway, back on subject... I kind of have a small hatred for Scientologists mostly because of this, but is this something I should really take to heart so much? I mean, it's not like they think people like me are worthless, does it? Anyway, I'v rambled long enough. Someone please help me, I'm so confused... D': JUST FOR THE RECORD: This is NOT being posted with the intention of being a hate thread, if anyone here is Scientologist, I have nothing against you personally... |

You shouldn't dislike someone just because of their religion. It's their own choice and you have no business or right that you should take that choice away or dislike them for that sole reason only. If person is alright, no matter what strong beliefs they follow through, that fact shouldn't matter. Personally, I pretty much joke about how Scientology is a big scam, but despite that, I would rather look into their good qualities then being against the ones I dislike. Besides, those might probably be the strong believers in Scientology. There's such a person that laxes on the laws of their religion. So don't overreact to it. |

Gotta love the YouTube. I won't say they DIDN'T commit suicide, but I won't say they weren't murdered, either. (It's called the Fort Harrison Hotel) | |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() Level: EXP: | That video is disturbing :/ I don't know much about scientology, except for a run in with a group of them three or so years ago in Denver on a school trip and they tried forever to get us to buy this book and finally they just gave my friend this bag full of pamphlets that made no sense. |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | I knew Scientologiists could seem unusual, but that video brings it under a new light. Also, having a religion with 'science' in it's name? Is it there because it's sci-fi, or are these people actually trying to be scientific. |
