Rep Power: 4 ![]() | I couldnt really figure out what to entitle this thread but this is what I meant by its title: Ideas, principles, values, laws, etc.... these things found in Religion, what do you think could be used in everyone's day to day life to make life better for the world? Many people say they have no value in today's modern world. I beg to differ. Does anyone else? Personally once again, I know more about the Bible so I will point out a few examples I find in the Bible that I feel if applied in people's lives, would make the world a better place to live in. You can pick anything once again and no it doesnt have to be from the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures. Any religious advice, proverbs, standard, or moral views, values, principles, laws, etc. anything along those lines that you feel if they were used in daily life could make life happier maybe or peaceful, or at very least, less problems than we face today. Once again I hope this turns out to be a discussion that all who choose to participate in can learn from. May this be a civil and good discussion. ![]() Please Note: You do not have to believe in or agree totally with the religion or texts or whatever it is, but if you feel there is something useful that can be taken out of it please share. | Crimson | All of the variations of the Golden Rule. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," karma, Three-fold rule, etc. And of course, something that Raymond Smullyan comments about Taoism: acting on moral obligation isn't as good as acting because you want to. |

| Safe in the darkness... | Well, this really only has personal meaning to the individual as oppose to an entire community or whatever, but I really like sayings like, "I could if I would, but I won't so I can't." I think that a lot of people get far more wrapped up in what they "can't" do rather than what they want to do and are actually quite capable of doing. Apathy, I suppose...it gets to me. |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | There are a lot of things in the Bible that speak about families and the way they should handle life as so it will go well... too many things so I couldnt post them all.... I just picked these few that are a general guidance for families: (note that the directly below is not what the scriptures actually say, you can look them up if you want, but its a summary of what the scriptures say) ▪ Husbands have to love their wives as their own bodies.—Ephesians 5:25-29. ▪ Wives to love their family and have deep respect for their husbands.—Titus 2:4, 5. ▪ Parents should not only love, but teach, and protect their children spending quality time with them every day.—Deuteronomy 6:4-9. ▪ And as long as the parents arent asking the children to do anything that is harmful or wrong, children need to obey their parents.—Ephesians 6:1-3. thats just for families.... |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | ^ Don't answer that here. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lets not debate in this thread.... if you want to take that issue up, please do elsewhere. Simple thread topic, if you'd like to contribute to what was asked for, you are more than welcomed to post what you think can improve life. |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Loyalty to one's country, Loyalty and honor to one's parents and teachers, Trust and brotherhood among friends, Courage never to retreat in the face of the enemy, Justice never to take a life without a cause. Basic principals of the Korean martial arts Tae Kwon Do, Hwa Rang Do, and Hap Ki Do. The above can appear in a range of reworking but are essentially the same in every Do Jahng. Simple and easy way to conduct ones self, not only in war but in everyday life. There are a massive list of other proverbs and philosophies from my Do Jahng but I don't want to make an overly long post. |
