Everyone has probably heard of the controversy already, but I'm watching it right now and I have to say I haven't been disgusted by something like this in a long while.

Bloody hell, I'm going to World Youth Day 08 but I hope I don't come across any of these Evangelicals. When does devotion become pathetic?

Yeah, I sound pretty abhorrent too... but hey, apparently I can say what I want about Christians, being one myself.

Never. They don't consider their devotion to God as pathetic. To an outside viewer, those kids willing "giving" themselves to God might seem over the top but that's exactly what devotion is. (or at the very least, what some would consider "extreme" It's all subjective though)

I saw the documentary a ways back. As long as they keep to themselves and don't bug anyone who doesn't want to be associated, we should all be fine.

We watched this in Philosophy class.

I don't agree with it myself. I mean, when it gets to the point that the children are crying and distressed, surely their parents must understand that what they're doing is upsetting their kids. >.>

Though, my class was informed by the teacher that this is right for their community, and until we have experienced it ourselves, we have no right to judge, etc etc.

The Evangelical Church has a LOT of affiliation with the White House. Not to mention the dangerous mentality towards the planet (global warming and such). Call me hippy-dippy, I don't care. This church is frakked up.

I saw this a while back and I must say that it really scares me. These people want their children to show the same devotion to their god as the suicide bombers in the middle east. That is the scariest thing. Religion at this level of extremity is wrong, I don't care about freedom of religion, etc this is freaking wrong.

Speaking of religious camp, here's a video that someone showed me that I thought was interesting. I can't say I approve of it, of course. But it certainly teaches you a lesson...?

hey, k that video is awesome as it shows the new genaration praising God. Christianity is not a religion it is a relationship with the one true God. I know this now without a doubt because i felt myself the power and awe of God because he touched me with the holy spirit. it ius not extreme it is life, i would do anything for God. God would never want u to commit suicide cuz it really is the one unforgivable sin.

If you watch the entire thing, you'll notice she's actually comparing the Jesus Campers to her supposed Pakistani infantile suicide bombers. Fascinating stuff really. Both fascinating and incredibly hilarious.
