You could say people without religion believe "hey, there is no god. So there's no such thing as good and bad, no right or wrong, no such thing as moral values. So i'll go ahead and do whatever the heck I want!"

on the other hand a person in a religion might try justify their actions because they have a text that they might twist, or it might even be part of the text for real.

In both cases, that is not everyone. Those are a select few. Humans period naturally want to justify their wrongs. Some with religions just use that as an excuse. It is not religion in itself.
...and religion is just such an easy and convenient way to do it. That is my point.

You have some leeway on how to use the word religion, but there are some important concepts: most deal with the supernatural, morality, it has traditions and rituals, and laws. While exceptions exist, general rule of thumb indicates that more of these things it has, the more "religious" it is.

Christianity, for example, deals with the supernatural, morality, it has traditions and rituals, and sets of rules.

Buddhism does deal with the supernatural, but not to the same extent, and it doesn't have rules so much as it has guidelines, so you can refer to it as a religion or as a philosophy, however you want.

Atheism does not deal with the supernatural or with morality, no traditions, no rituals, no laws. It is only the state of not believing in a god.

Humanism doesn't deal with the supernatural, but has a certain morality, which emphasizes the value of human life.

Religion must be organized, such as the Catholic Church or the dozens of Protestant churches, and so on.
Ok, well i see what you're getting at. But i must agree the term "organized religion" kinda seems redundant, since what you're saying is there is no such thing as a disorganized religion.

So then technically what you're saying is that in this thread Buddhisim and Atheisim should be kicked off the list of "best religions" because they are not religions.

I'd like to call them religions even though 'technically' they're not. The name of this thread should be "the best belief system"

Anyways, i have another submission for "Best belief system"
Agnosticisim is i feel the most logical of them. Since there is no way to know whether or not god is real, having a 'belief system' that equals that is pretty logical if you ask me. Not that you're indecisive. Even though i'm not agnostic.

knocking on a door as a mail man or trick or treator is acting real violent. Especially the part where they leave when you make it clear you are not interested. I havent seen them storming villages, burning down homes, beating people, or being violent in any other way. Heck, they'd even go to prison before picking up arms. If anything, violence is usually acted out upon them as history shows all around the world for years.

So your "joke" to try prove your point fails. Oh and pastafarianism is a religion. There are billions of religions.... just because it may be small doesnt make it any less a religion. It takes 1 person.

Thats what I tried to say at the end of my post on here at the end. No one person could decide this.
Nor could a small group to even every member on KH.

"The Flying Spaghetti Monster (also known as the Spaghedeity) is the deity of a parody religion called The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and its system of beliefs, "Pastafarianism."

It's not a real religion; people don't seriously worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster. lolol.

^ I do

I'd vouch that paganistic religions, polytheistic in particular, are the best form of religion or belief system. I say this because not only does it promote closeness with nature but retain morals that are practical and apply to the human being not only as a sanitate being but also an animal. Polytheistic religions also offer gods that are not nearly perfect. Most polytheistic gods are very human and shows that there is no such thing as perfection. I also like the ritualistic aspects of paganism. The only downside is that pagans don't construct massive Cathedrals in honor to their gods, but I can change that.

Depending on that, then is Wicca an organized religion, keeping in mind that Wicca is largely decentralized and half don't attend covens.
I don't think organization has to mean centralization. Half of them may not attend the covens, but then again, half of the Christians don't attend their churches either. Doesn't mean that Christianity is not an organized religion.

I'm a Christian, but I'd say the best is Agnosticism. Nobody starts wars over Agnostics. :3

So what do you consider organized? Seems to me that you think religion is necessarily organized and that it's impossible for religion to not be an organized/institutionalized system.

The wikipedia definition seems good enough.

"An organization (or organisation — see spelling differences) is a social arrangement which pursues collective goals, which controls its own performance, and which has a boundary separating it from its environment."

I am also pagan - but i dont think that the fact that we have no huge cathedrals or anything is a downfall. If you think about it enough - or you practice faithfully the entire world is one large cathedral and the pagans practice in that

I don't go to church because its just more likely social events, which have nothing to do with God.
I have a friend whos a pagan and he doesn't go to the social events because its more social
than anything.

And you're saying all religion falls under that definition?

Maybe. You sound like you have a religion on the tip of your tongue that doesn't. Hit me with it =/
