Default Dante's Inferno

Im not sure if there is a thread about it but i have my questions. Ive actually been reading it this weekend i bought it at a wonderbook for $3s along with some of the classics such as Dracula, Frankienstien and a few others. But I Degress. I was wondering what others believe of it. I think it is a very interesting story and does put the sins that god does despise in order and gives them each a circle in hell. there are 9 circles in which Dante talks about. So this is a question to everyone. Do you believe in the story, have you read it and what do you think of it. SO this thread is for the discussion of Dante's Inferno and other topics related to hell. Lets not talk about his descriptions of Pergitory and Heaven. I am not catholic and dont really believe in pergitory. But i am open minded on it.

So to review Topics of the Forum
1. Dante's Inferno, the book
2. Beliefs on His Descriptions and translation
3. Hell and your beliefs on it.

Kooleyo Let the Inferno Discussion begin!

So not the Divine Comedy as a whole, just Inferno?

I liked the whole thing, to be honest. :3 Read it last year. I won't comment on the religious aspects due to tiredness, but it made for an interesting read.

well..... The actual writings of The Divine Comedy is pure fiction (please do not go off on a rant saying that I am stating as fact that hell doesnt exist)... as i've stated before I dont believe in hell, but lol... the way its put in the book is pretty lively i must say haha... almost like a carnival ride :-p a quite amuzing and twisted one lol...
and yeah, there are threads related to this, not in relation directly about dante's inferno, but about hell etc yes... one that has recently been posted on too... this was the last one that i think =/ was posted on...

well this one goes into it....

Beautiful piece of literature. I actually enjoyed reading the divine comedy very much, especially inferno. Oh and Smooth, you are right the divine comedy is about as true as the rapture or any other cannon Christian text not written by 300 AD.

lol why did you point that out to me? lol i know the rapture is not true heck the Bible doesnt even speak of it and idk what else u are talking about.. trust me, im not your average Christian, a lot of the teachings seen in the "Christian" religions today have absolutely no basis in the Bible.... i do my research .... :-p

now lets not go off into some free radical or tangent... lets stick to the topic :-D

but you get the message of the inferno there is more to it then the unseen right? Like most literature it has a moral.. i hoped youd have talked about it. I think that it restates several times "dont feel sorry for sinners." the point is the point of the narrative.. And why cant anything past 300AD be true... just wondering i mean god can send messages through the people of today.. its not like he gave up on us as humans at 300

I've actually been trying to find the damn thing. I'm into everything related to Hell (almost bought the Satanic Bible because I want to know what is actually in there) but I can't seem to find this one :(. Looks very interesting.

You know that's a horrible message and that it contradicts Jesus' teachings, right?
