Rep Power: 2 ![]() | So, recently, my friend became a regular practitioner of practical Wicca. With his parents permission and a mentor's guidance (an experienced occultist who lives in the same neighborhood), he bought several books and immersed himself in spellcasting. Though, it started to change him, and even I noticed it. Though it may sound cliche, he started to crave more out of his efforts, and started to get into some very dark stuff, like blood rituals and using inverted circles. It got to the point where it seemed like he'd delved into flat-out Satanism. He tried to get me to participate in some of his rituals, things to get people he didn't like hurt, or trying to make girls fall in love with him (ridiculous, I know,) but everytime I refused. Inevitably, something went wrong. I was over his house one night while he was doing a ritual; he muttered something in Latin, cast his circle, and started to prepare his altar. Half-way through it though, he stopped abruptly - I hadn't been paying much attention but I could tell that something was wrong. Then he started to literally growl; he turned around on all fours, and he had this incredibly ferrel look in his eyes. He started to twitch rapidly, and foam at the mouth and stuff, and I thought at first he was going to have a seizure, but he just jumped on me out of nowhere and started to try and rip my face off. I finally got him off me, and he accidently knocked over a few parts of his altar while he fell. When he got up, he was out of his trance, and he couldn't remember a thing. I explained things to him, and he couldn't understand what had went wrong. Needless to say, I went home early. But things have gotten strange, around my house and around his. We're both getting up in the middle of the night, exactly at or in the hour of 3 AM, we're both experiencing extremely erratic and repetitive nightmares, and sometimes when I'm up at night I can hear what sounds like whispering or scraping coming from in my walls - and trust me, it's not mice. So. Any ideas on what's going on? |

| Ruler of Light | I suppose I'll give you my two cents. They won't buy much though. The nightmares may be leftovers of the psyche trying to expel the idea that your friend was possessed. The sounds can be night terrors. The fact that your friend has the same thing may be because he's pulling an extended prank on you to make you help him or at least believe him. It be him chaos bombing the idea to gain power, which is an idea in magic that the deeper an idea or symbol is ingrained in a human psyche the more power it gains. The cross is a good example of a symbol used as a power image. Assuming that he really was possess then the nightmares could be residual energy from the entity burning itself off in your mind. It could also be an actual remnant of the entity inside your head that causes them, granted it would have to be small entity to just be doing nightmares. If you'd like help on this and actually believe that you or your friend is/was possessed than I'll PM you a couple of links to forums that are more specialized towards 'magic' and such. However these sites will tell you that your friend is an idiot for doing something that involves summoning, because the first rule is never summon anything. I'd say that the first option is that your friend is screwing with you and it's engraved in your psyche and causing the nightmares and sounds at night. That sounds the most reasonable. |

| A Monument of Non-Existence | Yeah, I'm gonna go with Jopari's explanation, and say you're friend is ****ing with you. As for the nightmares and whispering, if my friend tried to rip my face off I'd be pretty freaked out too. It's all likely just in your head, your mind playing tricks on you. Post tramua and such. |

| Crimson | Basically, your friend was inexperienced and too ambitious. He stepped out of the regulated bounds and tossed fuel onto a fire he didn't know how to control properly. Assuming, of course, this is all real. I suggest talking to that mentor to see what he can do. I'd imagine he would be disappointed in seeing his pupil turn to black magic and summoning, assuming he's a white Wiccan. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Yikes. Sounds like you've gotten yourself into a bit of a pickle there, Pete. ]: Though I can't honestly say I'm surprised that this is happening - considering your friend was meddling in things way over his head - you still sound like you need help. Regardless of your situation, whether it be supernatural or psychological as the others seem to be implying, I still suggest you seek help in your friend's mentor. I hope he's all right, by the way - your friend. BTW; Come back to RI! We miss you. D: |

| in love with Rhyme... | Willow Rosenberg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I know it's fictional, but something similar to this happened in the TV show Buffy, albeit under different circumstances. In short, Willow becomes Wiccan, and soon becomes addicted to the magicks, craving to use it at every opportunity and wanting to use more powerful spells. Soon, her girlfriend dies, and she goes into a rage and absorbs the magicks in every book at the magic shop, and soon goes on a killing spree. The nightmares are probably the leftover "ghost" of the spell manifesting itself and trying to harm the both of you. The broken altar must've split whatever was possessing him into the both of you in trace amounts. Ask him what spell he was trying to cast, and ask someone experienced in that kind of stuff. He was probably accessing dark magicks, for what purpose, I don't know. I believe someone on KHI I met in a thread is a practicing Wiccan. Seek him out and ask this. As a precaution, though, ask your friend to stop using any magic, at least until you know what you're dealing with. If I was a Wiccan , though, the only spells I'd cast at this point are protective ones. EDIT: His name is Ultima Legion. Demonic possession - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Your friend's episode is somewhat similar to this stuff. It didn't sound like he was summoning anything. I would describe it as he had transcended and allowed some demon into his body. The demon probably can't exist in the physical world, so he's pretty much trying to pull a Freddy Krueger on you while you sleep or something. Last edited by bamak93; 02/19/08 at 04:02 AM. |

Rep Power: 3 ![]() | I guess you just find help from anyone you know, not us. We're not there to see for ourselves what truly happened. You're the only one (As well as your friend) who can stop whatever's happening around you. Sounds lousy but if you have strong faith, nothing could stop you. That's why we're living and not them. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | From what I've heard, prayer typically just provokes the entity, casting more spells can toss fuel on the fire, and the interference of another person will merely draw them in as well. I suppose I could try a blessing, but I doubt anyone will believe me. I'm screwed. :D |

or that occultist, but personally, i wouldn't trust him. he may have taught your friend that particular spell. at 3:00 am, pay attention to everything you see and hear. it might be a waking nightmare. EDIT: maybe there's a way to seal the entity in an object. see if that's an option.

I'm not too worried at 3 - I think it may just be my biological clock; however, I do think that there's something going on with nightmares.

was there any particular event that caused your friend to immerse himself in the magicks? or was it just a "do it for fun" thing that spiraled out of control?
