| A Synonym for Acquiesce | Ok, let me get this out first, I'm baptist, so there's no way that I'll ever follow this. Having that out of the way, I'll continue. So my friend got a book from a friend about Wicca. I was bored, so I picked it up and started reading it. It was pretty interesting, but I knew better than to believe it. Is it wrong that I'm interested in it, even though it blatantly goes against my beliefs? Any thoughts on Wicca? |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Wicca is a very interesting pagan religion. At one point I was debating between Wicca and Slavic Hethenry but I chose Slavic hethenry before moving on again through religious epiphany but not the point. Anyway Wicca was created some time in the late 1800's and mixes many hethnistic gods and practices. And no I don't think its wrong that your are interested in Wicca, Its like feeling weird that your interested in Final Fantasy or Harry Potter. |

| Keyblade Wielder | There is nothing wrong with reading about other religions, if anything it can help you to understand and appreciate your own even more. Reading about it doesn't mean that you are turning away from your faith, afterall we do learn about other religions in Religious Education. Wicca is a very old religion based on nature and it's attributes, it isn't evil as some would believe but instead it focuses on the Earth and the power that individuals have within them. Celebrating the life cycle in everything xD Though there are different sections of Wicca, plus the term is used far too generically in modern times to cover a very wide range of various beliefs. Being interested in a wider range of things will actually be better for you than being restricted to just viewing your own religion. It isn't weird at all. (: |

| Crimson | People like to associate Wicca with Satanists due to the use of the Pentacle. However, Wiccas use an upright pentacle while Satanists use an inverted pentacle. Generally, people don't make that distinction and as such, assume Wicca is evil. |

Which is why I think that you reading about it is a very good thing, it wont affect your religion and it wont be seen as going against your faith, it will help you to make your own mind up and form your own views. | ||

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I'm 15 years old and i myself, am a Wiccan. What is said here is true but i need to correct something. Yes the upside down pentacle (or pentagram ) is looked as evil but aactually it is a representation of the power of the Horned God of Day... You might have read about the two dietys in the book. I've been practicing Wicca for about a year now and have achieved alot. Many people are sceptic towards magic but , trust me, there is a power that can do anything if you believe. i have cast many spells, including one for my family to prosper. 3 days later my dad won the lottery and we got $5,000. if your interesting in learning about wicca visit ghostvillage.org. Its a good site...but i have to warn ANYONE about one thing. DO NOT even attempt to summon any avatars, or being of any kind without an experienced person with you. it is extremely dangerous and can even result in death. |

| Ruler of Light | I agree with pretty much everything that's been said here. Including Phoenix's remark.... Anyway, I don't see how reading a book on Wicca could affect your faith or anything like that. I've read the Bible, but it hasn't changed how I feel about my beliefs. As for reading it going against your religion, I can't imagine a religion that would actively attempt to squash knowledge. >.> Who would do such a thing? On a personal level I think it's good to read books about other religions and beliefs. It broadens the mind somewhat no matter how hard you try to close it. |

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Well. . . .from a Christian standpoint it is evil. Not because of pentagrams or anythings else but merely because the Bible says not to follow the teachings of "wizards" and soforth. And yes. I am of the opinion that it is both creepy and crazy. |

| Knight of Zero | Usually things like "I'd never believe in such and such" don't imply open-mindedness. The phrase you're looking for is "I don't believe in such and such", and leave it at that. Much more neutral. Quote:

| greatest of the ungratest | thats because the modern bible is wrong , the whole line about "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" was mistranslated, and actually originally meant "poisoner" (as in someone who sold out their own country) and not anything to do with witch's or anything like that |

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | I wasn't talking about witches. . . .but anyway . .I was just saying that the standpoint of every church that uses the Bible is that it's wrong. That was the only point I was making. That and I personally find it creepy and insane. |
