Male: -Tenor -Baritone -Bass Female: -Soprano -Mezzo soprano (sp?) -Alto A guy cannot be any of those female categories. Sure you may be able to sing in that range but you cannot be classified as a high alto as a male. | |

| Silh been hit by a smooth Criminal | ^ True although in a choir especially in a school. male/female may be assigned to a part that would normally be opposite their gender for proper balance. Example: There are all female barbershop quartets yet the positions that make up a barbershop quartet: Lead Tenor Baritone Bass (most important part if you ask me) may be entirely assigned to females. (I have nothing against women singing. but the voices dont' suit barbershop for me.) so for individual songs you may be assigned to sing a part that is not your gender. but were you to fill a resume for example you would base it off the following High singing female: Soprano Middle range singing female: Mezzo Soprano Low singing Female: Alto High Singing Male: Tenor Middle Singing male: Baritone Low singing male: Bass I'm a Bass. (as is obvious in like ANY of my youtube videos) when it comes males singing I follow this one rule. There are the men. and then there are the tenors! |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() Level: EXP: | I'm a baritone. My range is from somewhere around a low A-flat to an F above middle C (but it's not very pretty XD). So I guess...high bass/low tenor, but I usually sing bass in choir. I can match pitch and do fine in choir, and I know a little bit of vocal and choral technique, but I'm not a soloist at all. |

| Member | Seeing as my voice won't settle for another decade or so, I have no idea. But both my and my music teacher's bets are on a low tenor, although I can get fairly high if I'm well prepared. Still, even though my speaking voice is stable, my singing voice is constantly changing, and it's almost like every time I sing I'm hitting notes I couldn't before and missing notes I could. So, like I said, I suppose it's more a question of what I will be than what I am. Oh, I know, I'll just go ahead and shock everyone and become a soprano! o: Shuri/Eli |
