Default The Fantasticks
What is this show? My director said that we were going to be doing it as the summer musical at my school (we put on 3 a year) and I was just wondering what it was and if it was any good.

It's about these 2 lovers who happen to be neighbors and both their fathers "hate" each other so they built a fence between them. Actually the father's planned to hate each other so their two children would fall in love. So both fathers pay this guy to attempt to rape the girl so the boy would save her and they would get together and the fathers could tear down the wall. After this happens, everyone starts hating each other. The lovers grow farther apart and the girl goes for the one guy who was payed to attempt to rape her. The fathers get mad at each other as well and build the wall again. The boy tries to get the girl back and goes through the world to find her, he gets injured a lot if I remember right. Then at the end they get together and kiss or something.

I saw it back in August at my community theater so I probably left out a lot of things, but this is the basic story.

Sounds very confusing and quite stupid.

It's...ok I guess. It isn't the greatest I've ever seen but it's not the worst. I made an extremely bland description. It's kind of weird explaining it

It's okay, thanks anyway. I'm still not sure if I should do the play. I mean, I love acting and I love the shows but I do want to have a summer off where I can earn money and hang around and what not. Also, do you know if there are a lot of speaking parts in this play? Any big ensomble numbers?

It's mostly speaking really, it's a musical, but it's just more speaking If I remember. Honestly, it was a forgettable show and it wasn't that great so if you want to go hang out with your friends instead then you should. Because The Fantasticks is alright, but nothing special.

Luckily my community theater has a summer play thing and all my friends do it and I get to see my girlfriend ^_^ So I'm definitely doing that XD

Don't know yet, I'll find out on Wednesday I think. Well at least that's when registration first begins.

I love doing this Summer thing though, it's like my favorite time of the year.

And I'm also excited because next fall will be the first musical I'll actually sing in. XD The high school gave me a part in their one last fall but I didn't sing anything and I was the comedic relief guy you could say. But I love making people laugh, it's like the best feeling in the world.

Yeah making people laugh is a great feeling, I love it so much. Well let me know what the show is and what part you get, I'm interested.

from what I've heard. its like a new take on Romeo and Juliet but with somewhat of a comedic twist.

Many people don't think highly of the show itself though

Yeah...its not really funny or that great at all. The only reason I remember it is because I spent like the whole day with my friends just walking around in the rain and driving golf carts and stuff XD It was like the best Saturday ever.
