Eragon

This movie...was a drag. Never read the book, but it must have been better than this.

My first gripe:
Everything happened too fast and was horribly paced. Within 10 seconds things were happening that were so confusing I don't see how anybody who didn't read the book could understand. Then this red-haired girl (think Witch from Chrons of Narnia) gets choked, and we think she's dead. She's not.
Then we meet Eragon. Then his cousin leaves. Then within 30 minutes, about 3 people that are important to the story die.

Everything was happening so fast I couldn't keep track of it. I hated that it was almost getting cliche' with the vast amount of important deaths throughout the movie.

Then, at the end, *spoilers*......................the person you were trying to kill, the "KING", was never killed. Turns out he has a dragon too. Guess what? This almost punches you in the face saying "Hey! Guess what? You either have to read, or wait a year to find out what else happens! Sequels! Yum."

Second gripe:
I would have preferred a 4 hour long movie with good editing, a NOT rushed plot and some good character development over a 1 and a half hour movie that screams sequel. Everything happened SO fast, everything went by so quickly and confusingly that I couldn't keep up. The characters came and went so quickly, it almost didn't even matter because I couldn't develop a bond with the character. Example: 5 minutes in the movie, you see Eragon playing with his brother. Aww, cute huh? 2 minutes later, he leaves to go help in the war. You can't even bother to care, because you only knew him for a total of 3 minutes.

This movie was too rushed, badly edited, poorly scripted character developed, although I must commend, it gave off the editing and camera work of Chrons of Narnia and Lord of the Rings. Despite the good shooting and effects and camera work, behind its pretty picture, it was pretty lame and empty.

Eragon fans...watch it if you want.
People that have no idea WTF Eragon is...meh....you probably won't be too thrilled.

The only thing I liked was Murtagh, and Brom.

Brom? Funny British accents. I couldn't tell if he was saying "Brown" or "Bron".

Anyways, not like I cared. The movie only included him for an awe-inspiring 20 minutes with which we could barely even get to know him.

For Chrissake, Saphira flew up, transformed, and SAID her name was Saphira in the movie. All in the same day.

Yeah I noticed that. I highly doubt in the book Sapphira transformed within...oh....18 seconds.

Within a span of 5 minutes, you see the Dragon egg hatch (aww....Spyro memories) to Eragon flying a full-sized Dragon.

Waaaayyy too rushed.

Though then again, I must give some credit. Eragon seemed like a really really long story, trying to be pushed down into an hour and a half long. That takes some work, but then again, Harry Potter did it, and so did LotR. Why can't it happen here?

Seriously, we were that pissed. We've both read the book, and I, for one, am offended that I had to waste an hour and a half to see that piece of crap.

She is Dog. But she doesn't friggen blurt it out within five seconds of her birth. And she just says "Saphira". Probably her voice is retarded kid-like too.(Haven't seen the movie yet) Her voice sound be more like a wise woman voice or beautiful.

I am really disappointed. Eragon could have gone very well if a crappy director didn't decide to make it first. Paolini must be ticked that they ruined his book. Hopefully within a few years, some smart director will ask Paolini to write the script or at least get involved in the movie.

He thinks Saphira is a boy, and whilst travelling with Brom, he has to think of a name for her. He gives all male names, until either Brom, or Saphira herself (can't remember clearly) says that she is a female. Thus, she is Saphira.

I've gotta re-read to see how crappy they did the movie. . . <_<

It's the latter. She sounds very wise and beautiful. It conflicted with the dragon look xD I thought the dragon was a boy.

If her voice is beautiful, why do you guys complain? It is exactly how she should sound. Fierce looking but a beautiful voice. At least they did that right.

And even then, he doesn't learn that she is female until he (and Brom) are well into their travels.

They should have made Saphira look Feminine, cause Like Dogen said, I Wouldn't really know if she was a boy or girl, If I hadn't read that book T_T And that's bad, cause people who didn't read the book could get entirely wrong perspectives on things =-=;

Oh my oh my... what to say about the movie Eragon.
It was a disgrace to no end, it gave adventure and magical movies a bad reputation. I really doubt that the directors read the movie, because if they did they would know:
1. Saphira was SHINNY, like that of a sapphire and she wasn't. She did not grow up in 10 seconds and her name was not mentioned like the people above said until far into Eragon's adventure.
2. Arya was supposed to be an ELF, she didn't even have elf-like ears! WTF.
3. Durza was to have PURPLE eyes, yes purple eyes.
4. Wasn't Eragon supposed to be a farm boy? So much for that.
-They missed out on details for the characters.

Why the heck was the symbol, a dragon? It's not supposed to be...

They didn't even go into Eragon's training and like riding Saphira. Wasn't he supposed to hurt the insides of his legs from riding Saphira?

Another thing they were supposed to test Eragon's powers at the Varden.

If feel really sorry for all those really huge Eragon fans. D=
I thought it was going to be amazing, but instead I wasted 1 and 1/2 freakin' hours of my life.

I find it funny how my friends who didn't read the book liked it, while I who read the book hated it. -shrugs- This goes to show ya that books will always be better than movies, even though you actually have to READ.

Hatched before meeting Brom?! How is that possible? Brom is the one who got him interested in dragons. Heck, how did he know what Saphira was? I am defintely hoping this movie never makes to DVD.

O rly? It hatches, and matures within about 5 minutes in the movie. When you see the dragon fly down from the sky (after transforming adult) she says "Hello Eragon, my name is Saphira, and you're my dragonrider." or something like that, with a booming female voice. He overhears Brom in town square talking about dragons and wants to learn more but the man won't tell him. Later, Galbatorix's minions are looking for Eragon, kill his uncle, and Brom helps Eragon escape the village before they can get to him. After getting into the woods (about 1-2 minutes later) he asks him to call his dragon, and Eragon calls Saphira and Brom inspects her, and says she is a fine dragon.

At least that's how it happens in the movie.

4. Wasn't Eragon supposed to be a farm boy? So much for that.

Um, he was. Just like in the movie.

I for one, liked the movie. I could not get into the book- I LOVE the second book though. I liked the movie.

For a movie, it was ok. Just ok.
For a movie of the book Eragon? It was a downright phailure.

What's the big freaking whoop? If you wanted to include all the tiny little details in the movie, you'd have to make it 9 hours long.

The movie was mediocre, as was the book. I don't know why you were expecting LotR.
