Default Geisha: Not a prostitute
So I just joined a forum dedicated to geisha and kimono wearing(kitsuke). And I thought to myself "Self, I wonder how much the folks on KHI know about these living dolls and their way of life." Thus, this thread was born.

Feel free to ask questions about geisha here. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Fun fact: The word geisha literally means "artistic person."

No. That would just be scary. To me, anyways. I'm talking about how geisha look like living dolls with their traditional white makeup, exquisite kimono and obi, and lovely kanzashi(hair ornaments).

Many thanks for the Wikipedia article, Dawning Twilight. It does leave a few details out, such as hairstyles and the hanamachi's(geisha districts) annual dance recitals(odori), but overall I am quite satisfied with the information given in the Wikipedia article.
