Blain shielded his eyes from the glare of the sun as the mine head finaly came into distinguishable view through the heat haze over the rocky ground. They had traveled for two days, drinking almost a full half of their water, making sure to keep plenty aside for emergnacies. The mine itself burrowed deep beneath the surface into the cool, dark interior of the planet. It was said that before the schism, there existed boreholes so deep that they penetrated the very mantle of the Earth, giving mankind enough free power and resources to achieve their now mythical levels of civilization and technology. Some of these were even used still to some extent, meaning that if anyone fell off the top level, they would have enough time to write out their last will and testement before they hit the bottom. This mine however, was not the same. This was a simple, post-schism pig iron mine, full of twisting, earie passages, hewn out of the living rock but sheer human muscle power.

Blain pulled his horse in and let Taria come alongside him. "Thoughts?" she asked.
Blain moved his goggles up onto his forehead and promptly filled his face full of squint, "Something is very, very badly wrong. If the miners were still alive we'd see them on the walls and we'd have been signaled from the semaphore. If it was bandits, our innards would be seeing daylight right now." he unslung one of his pistols, holding it in a heavily cloth-wrapped hand to avoid burning himself on the metal of the handle. He held it close to his shoulder, ready to push it forward to fire in an instant. "Stay close, weapons out. Be ready for anything; I've got a horrible feeling someone or something is waiting for us. They rode in through the rusted iron walls that served to keep animals out, but obviously didn't work for whoever got here before Blain and his companion. The outrider dismounted and wrinkled his nose at the stench of death that permiated the compound. Bullet holes riddled the ramshakle shelters that the miners had lived in. Splashes of red-brown dried blood decorated the walls at intervals and in one corner a pile of mangled corpses were being chewed on by a pack of chained, savage-looking dogs. Blain re-positioned his goggles and drew his other gun. "This is bad," he said, "This is deffinitely bandit work... So where are the bandits? I don't like this one little bit..." He lit a lamp and started to decend into the pitch-black mine entrance, straining his superior vission to it's limit, his reflexes on hair-trigger.

After all of the bandits had been, exterminated, by Sleif, he soon began work on locating whatever was here.
"Lets see. Where to start!" Sleif said to himself as he looked around the area.
At that moment, an idea came to mind. Raising his hands, he instantly clapped them together, causing a wave of electricity to launch around him, and stretch across the entire area.

Doing it, two more times, Sleif was able to locate an unusual part of the wall, something different to the rest of the mine.
Walking towards it, Sleif held in his hand, some of the explosive that the miners would have used in the excavating.

Placing it against the wall, Sleif dragged out a long line of cord for use with the detonation. A slight grin was on his face, as held the end of the cord, without the plunger or detonator. He was grinning, for he did not need one, simply raising his finger to the cord, a spark occurred from his finger, causing a large explosion to happen.

((OOC: gunna post short, m'kayz? mum needs the comp soon/OOC))

Taira had jumped off her horse, and was pulling at the razor wire that sat on a spring strung loader in her gauntlets. There were five razor wires in each, and they magnetized to the tips of her gloves which had metal tipped fingers. it was easy to deactivate the magnets, but she wasn't expecting it was going to be because of a noise. There was the sound of footsteps, barely heard by her, but it wasn't the sound that had bothered her, it was the way the air seemed to bend. Then a quick flash of light that she could barely see, it was there, but far off. She screamed, lunging forward, pulling Blain out of the way as the entrance to the mine collapsed. Rocks began to fall, and she pulled him away, not caring if she had to drag his butt out of there. Blain reacted as well, but a second off. Taira ran away from the mine as another rockfall began because of the cave in. She ran for the horses, away from the mine, throwing herself onto the ground not to lady like. with her head cradled in her arms, knees pulled up to the chest, she lay there. there was something else wrong with her vision. She reached a hand to the base of her skull, and brought it close to her fading eyes. Blood span in her vision. She hadn't noticed a chunk of wood that held up the walls of the cave flying down at her, or rather, at her in a straight line. She winced in pain as the idea settled in, and let pain sweep her away into the shadows of unconsiousness.

It is often said that if you focus too much on the small details, you miss the big picture. As such, when there was a sudden roar from within the mine and a blast of pressure that threw Blain off-balance, he reacted a split second too late. He could feel Taira pulling him towards the entrance, but he knew that they weren't both going to make it. A tore himself free of her grip, just as the cieling started to colapse. Pushing her towards outside with all his strength, he himself leapt forwards, activating his lance and jamming it between the floor and a cieling beam. For the next few seconds, the air was filled with crumbling stone, chocking dust and flying splinters. When things finally calmed down after what seemed like a lifetime of chaos, the lance had saved Blain's life by holding up a single end of a beam and so preventing complete entombment. Looking about, Blain saw a single shaft of light through a hole in the roof and thanked whatever benevolent diety that was watching out for him that they had been so close to the entrance of the mine and hence, not far underground. He called out to his companion through the hole, "Taira! TAIRA! You okay? Say something!" No response. Blain's heart sank to the very soles of his boots and he nearly collapsed there and then. It was his fault! He'd let her die! He was the one who had suggested she come with him and now she was gone, burried under tonnes of rock. He clenched his fists, shaking in anger at himself and moreover at whoever had caused that explosion. This was why he worked alone, he didn't want anyone else getting hurt. But there was something else he realised. Anger wasn't all he was feeling. It felt as if his heart had been frozen into a black lump of stone and shattered with a sledgehammer. He lifted a hand in amazement as a hot tear worked its way down his dust-covered cheek. This was... sadness. Jenuine, utter devestation. She was more than just a companion; she was... But he couldn't think of that right now. Sadness was damp and useless. Anger on the other hand... Anger had an edge to it. Anger was hard and sharp and right now it felt altogether right. Blain let it flow through him, filling him with more rage than ever before. He sheathed his spear, checked his guns and stepped forward into the mine. Someone was going to have a REALLY bad day.

Lying in pieces at the bottom of a shaft deeper into the mine was the delapated remains of the old mine lift. Shaken loose and crushed in the explosion, it would never run again. Decending from above however, on a silvery metal cord, was Blain. He had found the corpses of the slaughtered bandit's above and had figured he was getting close. He had fired a pinton cord into the timber frame of the lift structure and absaled down the shalft, deep beneath the earth. Disconnecting himself from the steel line, he steeped out into the passage, his guns held ahead of him, ready for a firefight. He moved with the silence of a shadow, completely undetectable in the shadows, his superior senses and abilties enhanced further but the anger coursing through his bloodstream. He rounded a corner and his eyes narrowed as he saw the back of a man admiring his handywork. Apparently the guy had blasted a massive hole in the rock wall, but that wasn't the least of it. He had made a discovery that would have had Indiana Jones turning green with envy. Beyond the stone, lay a massive hole in concrete and titanium bulkhead. No wonder he had used so much explosives, if the charges had been shaped, the force directed into the wall would have had to have been measured in megatonnes to create a breach. Whatever lay beyond must be the reason the Barrons were so interested in the mine, leading to Blain being sent here. No time to speculate now; there was blood to be repayed. Blain leveled both his high-calibur pistols at the stranger's back without a word. Now wasn't the time for speach. Now was the time to let his cold gaze and nine-milimeter slugs do the talking! He fired.

Taira blinked her eyes, liftingher self from the ground. She thought she had heard her name, but that died away. She pulled up her gogles, looking around her, her vision returning to normality. She looked at the entrance, and a tear streamed down her face. She wiped it away. She glared in the direction if the half seen light, and stood, replacing her goggles. Razor wire leaped from its hidey holes in her gauntlets, all ten out and flashing. She raced forward. As she ran, the razor wire cut deep into the surroundings. Dead and rotting trees were sliced neatly in two, deep gashes in the few blood covered delling around her. She ignored the throbbing pain in the back of her skull, forcing away the impending shadows of unconsiousness once more. The Katana's remained on her hip only for one reason.. she was going to cause this mother f****r as much pain as physically possible. Not only had he just killed Blain, he had now unbeknowingstly pissed her off. She crossed her arms, the razorwire flying around like ten snakes. She slashed apart, ripping several more of the dead trees into usless piles. A nearby house fell in on itself as a large chunk flew out of her way. Things like this only happened when she was angry. This was when her real superior roots showed. She raced forward, and turned to meet the enemy.

As the smoke cleared from the huge explosion, Sleif simply waited for the dust to and vibrations to stop. As they did, Sleif was surprised to find what was behind the rock.
A large concrete and titanium bulkhead laid beyond the wall, much to Sleifs surprise. "So, the file was correct that there would be something here!" Sleif said to himself, with a slight grin on his face.

Just before he could do anything, Sleif had enough time to sense the presence of someone coming towards him, someone with immense rage.
In that instant, Sleif withdrew his sword before turning around to face the oncoming bullets. Some of the bullets just went by Sleif, hitting the rock, or the huge bulkhead. The rest however were left to Sleif. Using his sword, he was able to reflect nearly all of the shots, while the others simply veered off course, by use of Sleifs power.

Once the shooting had stopped, Sleif finally noticed who it was that shot at him. "Well, if it isn't the superior from the town!" Sleif said as he started to walk towards him. "Where's your friend of a half-breed?" he asked.

Blain registered another presense behind him, but couldn't hear what they said over the blood rushing in his ears, his whole being focussed on his enemy. "Where's your little half-breed friend?" the man asked, walking towards Blain with an arrogant swagger. Blain's eyes narrowed and he gritted his teeth, "Don't you ever speak of her that way!" he spat. The fastest homo sapiens can reload a handgun in less than a second, almost too fast to follow with the naked eye. Superiors could reload quickly anyway, but Blain set a whole new world record for slotting in new bullets in that mine. In less time than it takes to blink, he had ejected the old clips and slammed in new ones. Blain emptied the entire clips in less than two seconds, sending thirty nine milimeter rounds speeding towards their target. Blain already knew that they wouldn't hit the mark. He had been analysing his quarry all the way down the mine and even as he deflected the last rounds. This guy was fast beyond belief and could somehow make bullets veer off-course, Blain reloaded in less than a second, holstered his sidearms and drew his lance, flicking the catch to extend it. He knew bullets weren't going to decide this battle and in the confined space ricochets were always a risk, but hand to hand was a different story. Blain had never been beaten in a straight-up fight, his continued survival was testemant to that and in the confines of this tunnel, provided he could keep his oppnent away from him, he could use his spear's superior reach to devestating effect. If his oppenet closed the gap, Blain would switch to his combat knife, if the bastard ran into the bulkhead breach, Blain would pursue. There wasn't going to be any rest until one of them was on the floor with his lifeblood pooling about his body! Blain struck with cobra-quickness, this guy was going to pay for taking Taira's life.

Finally, after a few seconds, the bullets stopped firing at Sleif. Within that moment of brief silence, Sleif noticed that another had arrived behind the superior. "Well, I didn't expect to see you so soon!" Sleif said as he noticed Ale behind Blain.

Suddenly, Sleif could sense the rage swelling up within Blain, as he withdrew his lance before flicking a switch, extending its length.
"Given up on the guns I see! Let's see how well you are with a lance then a gun!" Sleif said, as in that moment, he was already fast approaching Blain.

With fluent motion and speed, Sleif moved to the side a little, missing the lances tip, and was rapidly closing the gap between himself and Blain, as he ran alongside the length of the lance, while having his own extremely large sword at the ready.

Taira had dove down the hole, following someone else without her knowledge. She landed stealthily, until she spotted Sleif. The razor wires retracted into her gauntlets, and the blades of her Katanas shimmered in the dying light. She ran forward, aimed at Sleif. She didn't see anyone else. All she had was anger, and pain. Fire from deep within her rose, and she screamed a high pitched scream, a note held so long that it would have shamed any opera singer. It echoed throughout the mine, and she span on her heel. Centrifical force slammed her swords into Sleifs back. She forced all her energy into her arms, and into that strike. She span fast enough that Sleif was still midway through his fall before she slammed her foot into his side, kicking him away from her. "YOU MURDEROUS BASTARD I WILL RIP YOUR SPINE OUT AND SHOVE IT DOWN A GARBAGE DISPOSAL!" she screamed. She was practically blind to her surroundings, made worse by her goggles, but she didn't need to see to know that she was going to kill Sleif...

As Sleif quickly neared Blain, he instantly moved, narrowly missing three large claws to his back.
"You BASTARD!" was what Sleif heard as he turned and saw Taira coming at him with a katana. Raising his own large sword, Sleif blocked the oncoming sword slashes, before flipping backwards with the force of Tairas force.

As he went backwards, Sleif used Blains lance as a slight bar, propelling himself behind the two and gaining some distance. "Well, the more the merrier. And now it appears I have another one, who is somehow enraged at me!" said Sleif, as he stood in a stance, ready for any move.

Blain was starting to suffer from tunnel vission, it was like there was no-one in the world except him and his opponent, there was no shadow, no sound except their breathing and the clash of steel on steel, no-one else, nothing else. As the man slid close into Blain's reach, Blain suddenly felt another presence beside him, penetrating his state of obliviousness a little. It didn't feel hostile though, but almost as if it was meant to be there, filling a gap that he had never known existed until that point. He closed his eyes, a state of peace moving over him in the chaos of combat. he felt his heartbeat change rhythm to match the new presence and he continued to strike, figthing perfectly despite his lack of vision, synchronising and timing his blows like steps in a dance, knowing that nothing could touch him. "Taira," he whispered, "Is this...? I'll make him pay. I swear. Thank you." He opened his eyes again, his mind in a tranquil state, quite unlike the blind rage moments before. He struck, parried and moved with calm purpose, putting his trust in his mysterious partner and repaying theirs in kind.

Taira noticed Blain, and blinked, Barely believing her eyes. Maybe it was a hallucination. She didn't care "You over powered ass, you die NOW." She raced forward, slashing downward strongly with her swords. Strike after strike, kicking herself away casually, then using the walls around her to force herself back. Rage fueled her attack, each blow seeming to increase in power. Finally she slashed downward with all her might, using the force of gravity and more centrifical force to add more strength. She slammed down and lept back, finally landing on the ground at long last. She breathed deeply, before jumping back into the onslaught
