Correct me if I'm wrong, but those were Cybertronian markings, right? Anyways, my guess would be, since Megatron wanted to make their presence known, they were to make Starscream stand out.

I really liked it i dont get why it seems everyone is complaining that it wasn't good, its just a movie

They might be, but I'm not sure.
Well that was stupid, I mean there goes the element of surprise, that they used in the first movie. I mean the humans recognized he wasn't friendly at first glance. Megatron must be losing his mind.

because it was overhyped?

Cuz of his leadership during Megatron's absence. It doesn't say so in the movie but it says on his figure box

^Oh yeah duh. But what I mean is while he was in charge during Megatron's death, The Fallen or someone gave him those markings as a sign of leadership or something close to that

i watched it 2 days ago...usually its the second movie that sucks and the first one is good, but i was surprised that both of them were actually good. I usually like movies that have action and fighting, but the pervy-ish things did give a nice touch and some humour in it so it wasnt all just bang, crash and wallop xD

I was supposed to see this yesterday with a bunch of friends, but not everyone could make it, so we went to see Up instead, and when we came out, the theater right across us had Transformers playing, and it was right in the middle of an intense scene, curious me and my friends snuck in for like, a minute just to see what to expect for the next time, and we saw Optimus battling Megatron and Starscream in the forest, and Megatron was all like:

"Is the fate of our race not worth the sacrifice of a single human life?" (Or something along those lines)

And Optimus was all like:

"Why stop at one? I'll take you all on!" and he gets up and starts slicing with his dual swords. Then we left for fear of important spoilers. Needless to say, it looked quite awesome and now I'll be stoked until next Tuesday when I'll hopefully go see it.

Oh, I also forgot to mention that a piece from the first movie starts playing as Optimus says those words, I forget the title (I think it was Optimus' theme) but it was very fitting.

One of my favourite bits was when Megatron got truly asskicked his immediate reaction is to shout at starscream. |Just reminds m,e of the original series. Starscream's fault. Everything.

No, he says those words during the battle in the forest with Megatron and Starscream (and Grindor). At the beginning, it starts with The Fallen in 17,000 BC
