Default Paranormal Activity

So apparently this is like an insanely scary movie. It started off just showing at colleges and stuff but then there was some online DEMAND IT thing and it hit 1,000,000 so now it's going nationwide. Anyway, synopsis;

Quote:
After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban "starter" tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic, but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.
There was a better summary but I couldn't find it. But they end up setting a camera up in their bedroom. I keep reading articles on how extremely scary this movie is and I really want to see it. And though it went nationwide it still seems to just be in select cities.

Has anyone seen it yet? I'd really like to hear about it some more.

I saw this movie downtown, and I got to say I was disappointed. I didn't find it scary at all really, it was just a bunch of hype to me. It wasn't worth it, at least to me. Everyone I saw it with thought it was scary though. Oh well...

I honestly can't really imagine myself being too terribly scared from a movie, I mean the way people describe it I can't really see myself feeling the same way. Of course I can't really judge until I see it.

Yeah, I really don't get scared at any scary movies anymore. And I thought from what everyone was saying about this movie, that it might actually be pretty scary, but then I guess the hype just sort of ruined it for me. I don't know, you could give it a chance, because like I said, everyone I went with thought it was scary. I guess scary movies aren't really my thing anymore.

The movie is pretty eerie overall, and things definitely get chaotic near the end. I watched it, and for a person who has felt next to no fear in any horror movies in years, I wasn't disappointed when watching this movie. What's interesting about this movie is it manages to hold some humor in it, probably because of the realism presented in conversation.

Let it be known I was going into the theater expecting something mediocre, not great.

I'm going to see it tonight with friends.

This girl I work with said that the guy (around 25ish) sitting next to her jumped so hard at one point in the movie that he spilt the drink he had in his hand on her. Of course he appologized, but she said the look on his scared face and the laughter she got from it was enough that he didnt have too lol.

The movie is more psychologically scary rather than the normal horror movie. Its some of the suttle things that are the creapiest. It gives us a sense that this could sort of happen. Myself knowing a lot about demonology found the movie even more terrifying because I could tell what demon was haunting them based off of the husband's job and how the demon tormented them. It is the scenes in the movie that cause fear. You see a type of scene and know something is coming. That is probably the scariest part... Knowing something is going to happen extremely soon but not know exactly when. I thought it was clever that they used 3:30 am several times in the movie. (The Demon Hour) Opposing the time that Jesus died on the cross 3:30 pm... I have never seen a scary movie in theaters and I was freaked out by the night scenes cause the entire room shook when there were loud bass sounds.

It's actually called the "witching hour" not "demon hour". And i don't really think it's clever that it was used. It's common sense, that demons, witches, etc lurk around that time. But glad you caught onto that, because there are a lot of people that know nothing about that.

With that said, i loved this movie, it's refreshing to see horror movie without the gore. I really wanted to see what the demon looked like, but at the same time, i'm glad it wasn't shown in the movie. It would ruin the scary vibe the movie gives. I came to the movie expecting ghosts. The heavy foot steps gave a creepy feeling every time.

Personally I think the demon was Beelzebub, the demon of gluttony. Mainly because of how well off the couple is. Beelzebub is also said to deal with greed. This wiki does an ok job of getting some basic ideas down. But As I understand. Beelzebub is a demon who likes to mess with his subjects before well he does what he does in the movie. In my studies He also likes the women and is very easy to make jealous.... well if you understand what Im saying. he was an insect so think about what happens with the powder and it makes a good bit of sense. But of course all demons can take any shape they wish, pretty much the same as angels. And yeah it is the witching hour but some churches call it the hour of demons. And I realized it does start at 3 not 3:30.... But Its up for debate of course. I doubt the director was thinking about demonology when he was working on the film. But its possible.

I saw this the midnight it opened in my town on Sept. 2nd. This movie is not a conventional horror flick by any means. There are few, if any, of the cheap Hollywood thrills, like things just jumping out at you and stupid shit like that. It's more of a psychological horror movie.

See this movie on the pretense that everything in it is real, and that demons exist (they don't). It makes it much more horrifying.

I to believe that the demon could be Beelzebub. And the director did study demonology for the movie, he said he wanted to make the film as realistic as possible. And i never heard of it called the hour of the demons; i'm Catholic, i know Christians, Jehovah Witnesses, Lutherans, Mormons, and others, and they all call it the witching hour. So the hour of the demons is new to me. And there's the devil's hour, but witching hour is used a lot more than the devil's hour. But the director also calls it the witching hour.

After seeing the movie i researched everything i could find about it. Besides the director studying demonology, he got the idea to make the movie, because creepy stuff would go on in his house. And the house the movie was made in, is the directors house. And the original ending was taken out, because Steven Spielberg said it was to disturbing. And that there's two original endings, but i'm not sure if that's true; i think there's just one.

I think it's Jewish religion but Ive just searched sites and they say the two are the same. I've heard that Steven Spielberg changed the ending. And I've heard about what happens.

Spoilers
She just comes up the stairs, stares at the camera and sits on the bed staring at the camera with blood stains and thats it

Honestly I think what happened in the movie was even creepier.

Spoilers
her licking and biting the guy
