Ahhh yeah, I saw Kidulthood's premiere, and there was one of those Q&A sessions with the director afterwards.
The funny thing about it is that it was partially filmed at a friend of mine's old school. I suddenly though "I know why she's like she is". Gotta love a bit of the chavs though, innit blud.

The best totally independent film I saw was one called 'The Family Picture' which was written and directed and produced by an acquaintance of mine. He got the funding to do it from the Prince's Trust, a charity over here in the UK, and then shot it.
I was pretty skeptical, and thought it was going to be amateurish and misguided, but it was a very very good film. There were definite problems with the editing, and some parts were a little unprofessional, but I was genuinely surprised. It was also filmed around our local area, and had loads of my friends as cameos and extras, so just that was pretty lol - it got a good response in the cinema anywayz.

Of course I like all the standard 'independent' films - Amelie, Little Miss Sunshine and so on. In The Mood For Love is also worth a mention. I never really pay much attn to whether the company is independent or not though.

Ah now I remember another Independent film that I really liked.

'Looking for Eric' by Ken Loach, went to see it with a Q&A with him afterwards.
Really good movie.

Really good movie.
I haven't had television for over a year,
but perhaps i could torrent this. I read some reviews
and it seems decent enough. If there aren't movies
out there that are generally advertised, i go straight
to the independents, to see what the majority of the
world overlooks.

Are Michael Moore's movies considered independent? If yes, then they're the only independent movies I'll ever watch.

Apparently Boondock Saints is considered independent. So that shoots to the top of my list
