I had a little trouble on him on Proud mode too, but eventually I figured it out. First of all, if you don't have the block gear, equip it. The way you kill his minions on top is by blocking one of his attacks (I forget which, it's been a while).

Also use the Keyblade that gives great aerial combos, I don't remember what it's called, though.

Also, when I beat him, I was in the 20s.
