Rap in general does not influence that behavior, in fact puts the behavior in a negative light because many of the rappers had to deal with that kind of lifestyle around them. Gangster rap is trash. It is tasteless and brags about it. I don't deny that it's bad for kids to listen to, but I will not say rappers like Aesop Rock or Tupac are bad for kids to listen to but get blindly blended into those categories.

Music can influence the easily influenced stupid but I don't really think you should blame the music for being stupid.

I've been to many metal/hardcore shows and there are always multiple fights, mosh pits, and people throwing punches in the crowd. Certainly that is not non violence. There are people who go to shows with the expectation and yearning to fight. Don't say that there are not those people, because you just haven't ever met one of those people.

Now, if listening to this sort of music, one can speculate on whether or not the person will form these sorts of violent/aggressive/negative behaviors or emotions. But it certainly does not aid in doing the opposite.

Right there, you lumped it in with punching, kicking, fighting etc TWICE. Without any effort to differentiate. Listing things does not mean that you also consider them to be completely different things. Not if you don't specify. And to me, intended malice makes a huge difference. Play-fighting is not the same as real fighting. I had brushes with my brothers in the past, both playing and for real. It really doesn't compare at all.

Okay, I'm sorry for assuming. But in the ones that I have been in, I've seen multiple times even, when someone falls over, they get picked up, when they put their hands up and back off, they let them get out. This is still basically the same to wrestling or kickboxing to me.

And I thought you were just going on about rap music. I explained that they're different. Gangster rap however isn't really why people shoot up neighborhoods at all. I live in Chicago. I see drive bys all the time and it's terrifying but that's because of the way they grew up. Not because of what's on the radio.

Gangster rap is a completely different genre from just rap. Rap is generally influenced by a crappy lifestyle of having bad parents, bad life in the streets, etc. Gangster rap is usually bragging about it.

With mosh pits it's generally just the culture. You haven't been in a mosh pit before. It's kind of like wrestling, I'm dead serious. If you fall down, people help you back up. They stop if you tell them to. It's not with really any intent to seriously hurt anyone.
