I know that these guys stopped going at it a while ago, but I have to say that this is my favorite comic strip ever. Bill Watterson made it feel like you were watching a real family, instead of just having a bunch of random jokes week after week.

If you don't agree, you're going to have to turn your balls in at the station.

Blisteringly witty, wonderfully surreal, and painfully accurate in it's depiction of family life...

Yeah, I'd have to agree that Calvin & Hobbes is probably the single best 'funny pages' comic ever.

Calvin and Hobbes was awesome because of the philosophical rants and the depiction like you said, of a story from week to week instead of flat boring puns or poorly overdone jokes.

Plus there's a tiger.

If you don't have the Tenth Anniversary collection, you're missing out. I loved the man's commentary, because it seemed to add a bit more depth to the comic, and a bit of insight on who the man was.

When I was younger, I took most of these comics at face value, and loved them. Now, I still like the nostalgia factor, as well as the subtlety that the man put into this comic strip; he was political and environmental, but he didn't hit you over the head with it like a hammer.

And, I've never seen rain done so well with a black pen.

Sadly there are a few that kind of double up the strips. Also, he had the best Sunday Cartoons EVER.
No other comic artist can pull off as many panels as he did and make it interesting every week.

Also, the only comic i really like nowadays is Get Fuzzy. :3 I found one of their books of comics in my Calvin and Hobbes stack

I have quite a lot of Calvin and Hobbes, my dad used to cut them out of the paper and stick them in a portfolio, but I also have some compiltations : D

Wow this thread brings back memories. I remember when I was younger, I was always psyched about Sundays because of the comic strips. I have three or four of the Calvin and Hobbes books. Nice thread.
