Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() Level: 26 EXP: | So I finally bought the Darwyn Cooke adaptation of Richard Stark's Parker: the Hunter. Brilliant book. Cooke's art is amazing like always, but I feel it's so much better here than it was in DC: The New Frontier. The black and white really helps set the noir-ish mood and Cooke's handle on the feel of the era is pitch perfect. Parker is a criminal, and far from a good guy. He's not sympathetic or a redeemable character. He wants what's his and isn't bothered by what it'll take to get it. It's a hard-boiled crime novel, accentuated by Cooke's art. I loved this and I can't wait to read the next book, even though it's a year away. Here's a preview from the introduction for those interested: Preview: Richard Stark's Parker: The Hunter - Comic Book Resources If you're a fan of the crime genre or you really like the 60's era or hell, if you loved the original Parker novels then you should enjoy this. Do yourself a favour and look for this book at Borders or Barnes & Noble. Shit, go into your local comic shop if you have one. They'll definitely have this book. Cooke is pretty much a titan in the industry. You won't regret reading this. |
