Default John Steinbeck.

Wrote: The Pearl, East of Eden, Of Mice and Men, Grapes of Wrath. And some other 30 something + books.

In your opinion, What do you think of his works?
Do you think he's a good author? Do you like his books?
Just tell me what you think.
And which books you like and you don't like.

Personally, I'm not much of a fan. I don;t like reading fiction books, they bore me to death cause most of them have no purpose. Through all of my high school years, I've read The pearl atleast 3 times. The thing about his work is that he's too decriptive, and goes on for like about 5 chapters about the farms. And it just bores me to death. The only book I like is, Of mice and Men. Pretty awesome.

John Steinbeck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

discuss??

Of Mice And Men was okay. Grapes Of Wrath sucked.

Only two that I've read.

The Grapes of Wrath is good, if you like reading terribly long winded books about families undergoing terrible hardships and SUFFERING.

And I do like Of Mice and Men, as much as it makes me sad.

but nothing happens in Of Mice and Men.

you could easily read the first and last chapter and still understand exactly what has happened

Not really. I mean, some parts were slow, but it was all character-development and all that good stuff. Plus, how would you know why
Spoilers
the dude got shot at the end
if you didn't read it?

I had to read some of his work last year for english.

I really liked Of Mice and Men. Although it made me horridly depressed upon finishing it.
It was kind of discouraging--the dreams of pretty much all the characters were met with nothing but disappointment and loss. I was kind of impressed at how Steinbeck managed to give such an analysis of human nature in such a short work.

The only other work of Steinbeck I've read is Cannery Row; it's pretty good, although I think I liked Of Mice and Men better.
The characters and places were all interesting, in my opinion. Like the Bear Flag; the respectable whorehouse. I liked how he weaved all of the characters together, showing how they all impacted one another, and most importantly, Doc and Mack. The premise is so simple too, but it all comes together to make a sweet, kinda humorous novel.
