I really need the help with the name of a book...

[The Lionheart]

I read a book quite awhile ago, which for some reason I remember being titled "The Earl of Sutherland"

Warning: Spoilers about this book with the unknown title ensue.

This book was about a kid with no name, and about his best friend. The kid grows up with some crazy guy who for some reason has little boys at this type of "school". The man is in charge and eventually one of the kids will take over.

Well, this certain child escapes on a raft,and finds himslef a name (which I want to say was like lealand or something, but hell if I remember). This kid goes to the real world, and finds out that these barbaric people have been raiding the lands. And now they're straight up feared all over the place.

This kid and his friend are captured by one of these barbarians, and taken to an icy wasteland. There they are taken to the barbarians' leader, and then dragged off again. The kid and his friend then kill they barbarian with a mini avalanche, and go down to a small valley.

The kid has sex with some girl, and then they leave the small village. Even though the girl gets prego, she doesn't want that kid to bear the responsibility.

The kid and his friend leave, and then go to some land (thought it was sutherland).

Yes I'm being rather vague, but it was like 5 years ago that I read this.

Anyways, the kid somehow becomes a lord of this land he rules, and then has adventures blah blah blah.

In the end, the kid gets killed, and his friend takes his position.

Now, after that rather vague description, does anyone know what this book is called?

Ugh, I've been trying to remember it forever. Any help would be welcome.

I really have searched all over the place for this book. I posted this same message on multiple boards made for this sort of thing, and so far have come up with nothing.

I actually found the name of the book from another site that I had posted on (I signed up for like 4 book-finding sites :P)
