Question Creating Memorable Villains?

I'm trying to create memorable villains in both an original story of mine and my KH fanfiction. The main one that I'm worried about, however, is for my original story. I want to make that character memorable and maybe try to get him to strike up some fear for the readers, like he strikes up fear for one of the main characters.

So, any tips for creating memorable and scary villains?

I know they need to have some sort of a human side or a soft spot to make them more memorable [i think that's the right word for that xD;;], and he most definitely has a soft spot, even though one develops later on. And, if anybody needs to know anything else about him to help me with this, lemme know? Not sure if you even need it, though. :d

Thanks! :D

Well, I think any memorable villain needs to be human like. If you know what I mean by that. They can't always be overly-powerful. They need to be able to make mistakes. Character Paradoxes always are a good thing. And they need to have motives.
As for a good villain... I always found that the calm, collected, cool villains are always better. The ones that seem to have everything planned out in their mind, and only let you see little bits of it. The kind that don't have huge outbursts of rage or anything like that.
Yeah, I like those kinds of villians o________O

Maybe they should a weakness for something like a cute animal or something that seem fragile or they should do something unexpected, and be somebody who does something so kind that nobody could tell that they were ever evil? I'm not too sure but that's what I can gather so far. Sorry if this doesn't help by the way..
