Kingdom Hearts: For the sake of the Sky

Yep, I don't like to read KH fanfics. Know why? Because there are thousands of them, and they all look the same. So, I wrote this fic solely for the sake of writing a real fanfiction for once, as I normally write original stories, and not because I want to make another one to add to that thousand.

This story will not be about KH as we know it. Not about Sora, Kairi, all the worlds, nobodies, heartless or everything like that but with other names. This will be a fic about what I think Kingdom Hearts stands for. I always thought the name was a bit misplaced for the game. The bad guys chase after something called Kingdom Hearts offcourse, but I always thought the name implies so much more.

Think about it, taste the words of Kingdom, and of Hearts. I'd say it is a good combination of words, which hold within them mystery, emotions, heroic deeds, and a huge, awesome story. Rather then just being the name of the eventual goal of the bad guys in a particular game we all like to play.

To keep this in line with what Kingdom Hearts means to other people then just me, I will let the concept of the game and all influence the story, but don't get to excited. I'll probably just put in references, and the keyblade will play a role, but a different one at that. (First reference, the title. For all those who didn't know...Sora means sky.)

Oh, and yes, I know this prologue is a bit short and maybe confusing. Things will get clear in the first chapter, still writing that. (Just a bit more clear though. ^^)

For the sake of the

The sky.
The clear blue sky, stretching out to far behind the sight.
The sky, with above it the sun, and through it the clouds, those white fingers of the Gods...
The sky, our protector, our hope.

What would we do without that sky?

Prologue: Changing blue.

Days past by restless. Time was shifting. Change hang thick in the air, as a choking gass, confronting any who didn't believe. The wind was the first change. Then came the rain, then the hail, and eventually...the snow. Clouds turned black, packed together, enclosed the land in an icy grip. Storms chased eachoter over the plains and seas of the earth. This all happened slow, one day at a time, but unavoidable.

The people of the Embrace Kingdom slept restless, just like the days they walked through. Hope began to waver, fear came sneaking into the hearts. They shivered and trembled underneath the broken sky, not used to such cold, wondering what had become of it. Why had it happened? Had they upset the Gods? Their precious blue sky was torn apart by darkness, leaving the lands in the grip of a seemingly everlasting twilight.

The Holy men had no answers, Nobility had no answers. There was no one to turn to and ask for help. They were alone, without answers and an increasing amount of fear in their hearts. And as we all know, when hope leaves the hearts of good people, something has to take its place. Some were just scared a bit, some were careless, others...gained darkness. Darkness, settling in the most unsatisfied minds, influencing the souls of those people, and slowly but surely, infecting there hearts with cold fingers.

Uneasieness, uprisings, riots...even small rebellions arose from the midst of the mass. Pure darkness spread throughout the kingdom, as changes of being saved came close to zero. For no one knew what had happened, why it had happened, or how to reverse it. Religion was cast away. The Royal family was discrowned for no one would follow them anymore.

The Kingdom of Embrace was plunged into confusion, murder, bloodlust, disgrace...darkness.

Thanks Azura. I finally have a good idea to start the first chapter with, so I'll be posting something this afternoon, or when I can finish it, in half an hour. But I've got to go to school, so yeah. =P

Btw, can anyone tell me the quote that is stated on the box of the KH game..? About we all share the same sky (Thought it was something like that). I want to use it but I totally forgot what it said. xD
