It may not have been his mother, but if it was and assuming it is, when Kairi came back without Sora, Kairi most probably told the mystery woman that Sora had gone with Riku on the raft. But if you think about it if his mother was consumed by the Heartless that means that she also as a Unkown version of her that maybe Sora killed. This is one of the few questions I hope to be answered within the KH subject.
