Why was the Maze and some of the forest pictures on the wall?I alway's hated that about wonderland.
Was it laziness or something?I really wanted to go through the maze seeing i loved that part of the movie.

Hopefully they may consider redesigning it. I'm sure it has potential for a lot of creativity/beauty. Seeing how Square Enix has brought back Neverland/Pinocchio with newer areas, Wonderland seems to be the only world left that didn't seem to be used to its potential.

I remember the night sky of Neverland in Days looking really boxy, but that was due to system limitations. It may have been limitations either with space or time constraints in Wonderland's case, but I doubt it.
If you think about the context of the world in regards to the original 1950s movie, in which Wonderland is actually inside Alice's "frame of mind", maybe the designers were paying homage to this - alluding to the surroundings as if it were contained in spaces inside of Alice's dream. I know in the universe of Kingdom Hearts it might look a little off, but I kindof like that Wonderland has it's own particular style. It almost looks as if everything could be inside a pop-up book or fold (like a house of cards).

Yeah, it was not laziness, they did that on purpose. It would make no sense for it to be "laziness" because none of the other worlds in the game were like that. And they have kept that style throughout all of its numerous appearances.
I personally believe they did that just to make Wonderland seem even weirder and crazy then it already was. I mean no other world could ever look like that. Also the maze was in Coded. :P
I'd prefer them to never use this version of the world again to be honest :/ It's been in 4 games.Hopefully they may consider redesigning it. I'm sure it has potential for a lot of creativity/beauty. Seeing how Square Enix has brought back Neverland/Pinocchio with newer areas, Wonderland seems to be the only world left that didn't seem to be used to its potential.
Besides, those worlds got expanded because they were never the "actual worlds." They were a ship and a whale, but they remade them to include their actual worlds. However, Wonderland is actually Wonderland. And like I mentioned before it has kept the same design through all its appearances. I think they are completely fine with how they made it, and I doubt they would change it in a future installment. Unless they include Tim Burton's version somehow. (Which I would love)

Prankster's Paradise is like Neverland in that its original "world" has been expanded, but a lot of fleshed out worlds from KH1 were revamped for KH2 though. Agrabah and Halloween Town, specifically, revisited areas that were changed dramatically. Wonderland (and any world, really) could undergo the same transformation.

I was never bothered by the appearance of Wonderland; I sort of just thought they were going for something artistic as opposed to realistic. After all, Wonderland was the only world in the game that wasn't actually real in the strictest sense. Being a figment of Alice's imagination, the fact that every environment was compartmentalized wasn't terribly surprising. Dreams can't go on forever, so neither does Wonderland's environment. That's just my rationalization, though. :)
Well, being that the premise of the movie was that the original had happened and she simply didn't remember it (I believe--haven't seen it in ages), they could always explore the idea in future games.

A Tim Burton Wonderland? Heck yeah!! But seriously, I agree that laziness wouldn't be a problem. Could they have been trying to prevent Wonderland from becoming too large compared to the other worlds?

"In the first place, the phrase 'the survival of the fittest' is not an illuminating one. It implies that those who survive are the 'fittest,' but what is meant by 'fittest'? Why, those are 'fittest' who survive. This is an argument in a circle." - Isaac Asimov

Bercause the rooms would've been too big for Square's comfort zone at the time. I mean, rendering even simple 3D in the backgrounds wasnt really evident until KH2. What you're referring to would've been monster.
My point is that the PS2 could render those things in more detail, but Square chose to play it safe and reused the environments for RE:COM, with Days and coded being justified in that DS is far less powerful.

I think they did that to give it a unique feel. It also probably helped in terms of disc space, but I don't think that was necessarily the reason why they decided to go with what they did
It's weird, because as a kid I never really questioned this. So when I played it later it didn't bother me.

I always thought it was to help give Wonderland a "different" kind of atmosphere. I thought it was an interesting touch.
Superb~
