Question Sora's memories when he was a heartless.
Something that got me while I was playing Kingdom Hearts is when Sora was talking to Kairi about being turned into a heartless, he forgot his friends and who he was, etc. only till Kairi brought him back. And yet in KH: COM he told said that he never forgot his friends. Would that be considered a loophole in the series?

no, he never lost his memories when he was a heartless, he was beginning to though. he said his memories started becoming hazy, so if he stayed a heartless any longer he prob. would have lost those memories.

You know Roxas? Yeah, well if Sora had forgotten his memories, Roxas would've had them instead. But, he didn't which means Sora never gave up those memories. He kept his sense of self and remembered his friends, if he'd been a heartless any longer, he wouldn't have been able to turn back into a human form.

Yeah, KH! and Teny covered it. Basically, he was becoming hazy. By the minute he was forgetting his friends, who he was, blah blah blah.

haha this^, if Roxas didnt have the memories that means sora kept them but he was on the verge if he stayed a heartless any longer

That's up for debate, actually. No one really knows if Kairi kept the Memories from leaking, or if she actively pulled them back.
Not that it matters much, though, it leaked out eventually XD

But why did Roxas gradually gain Sora's memories? Could that be from the leaked memories coming from Sora in his pod?

Roxas and Sora are connected. Much like how in Days,
Spoilers
when Namine began really going to town with Sora's Memories, Roxas fainted
, then when she was restoring his Memories, Roxas saw them. That is not to say he 'remembered' them, though. They did not link as his own Memories.

Namine's powers over Sora's Memories come from her being born when Roxas was. Nobodies have a natural link to the Memories of those they came from, and with Sora being the one turning into a Nobody yet without being Namine's Somebody, we got this bizarre situation.
