Rep Power: 2 ![]() Level: EXP: | Note: This topic is assuming you have bought your copy of Kingdom Hearts, stealing is bad mmk. Also this is most probably not for those who are not tech-savvy individuals. Since release, I've been trying to extract the major (non in-game rendered) cutscenes from my copy of Kingdom Hearts, and since they used Huffman Compression instead of the normal PSS this was quite a challenge, but thanks to fao project, ffxdean (user from another forum), and many others; there is now a set of extractors so you can finally have those FMV's you've wanted from your NTSC-U copy of Kingdom Hearts and NTSC-J Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. Kingdom Hearts (NTSC-U) and Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix (NTSC-J) Extractors: Click Here Extracts: --Kingdom Hearts (NTSC-U) (Original North American release of the first game) ---Intro ---Ending ---Secret Ending ---PreIntro --Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix (NTSC-J) (Original Japanese release of the first Final Mix game) ---Intro ---Ending ---Secret Ending ---PreIntro ---FFX2 Trailer The programs belong to fao project and myself for authoring them. These are extractors for the original US Kingdom Hearts and JAP Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, despite the misconception that it says "kh2mov" that means "kh to mov" just in shorthand since the second Kingdom Hearts wasn't even released before the first extractor was made. Note: For both they extract to the wrong resolution, also some playing speed and duration time issues occurred, which also happens with KH2 FMV's but once the video files are re-encoded this is all fixed. (For example: I converted the video file to AVI in Megui making sure to also resize to the correct resolution, then muxed the AVI with the WAV audio using Megui and it all played at the correct speed, resolution, and showed the correct play time) Re-encoding Programs to look into: MeGUI (to AVI) - common video format TMPGEnc (to MPEG-2) - retains original MPEG-2 format Resolutions: Intro, Ending, PreIntro and Secret Ending JAP are PAL 4:3 resolutions Secret Ending US is PAL 16:9 resolution Extracting the FMV's from KH2(US and JAP), KH Re:COM(US and JAP), and KH2FM+(JAP) is possible, but the process is entirely different, if requested enough I'll post a tutorial. Also Feedback encouraged, even just confirmation that they are in fact working. Last edited by Rathaeum; September 21st, 2009 at 06:46 PM. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() Currently playing: The World Ends With You...again Level: EXP: | Thats all well and good, and I don't mean to put down all the hard work you undoubtedly put into this, but I just go to KHvids.net if I want any cutscenes from KH. |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() Level: EXP: | true true, but there is some value in actually extracting it yourself. If you were an AMV author or a quality conscious person like me who actually pays attention to bitrates, you'd want to get your content from the source. &thanks nobodies, i used to be into tagging forevers ago |

| For the deeds of today resonate.... | Mmm... I don't go to KHvids.net for my vids, the quality is horrible, but I do find them elsewhere. However, I might just try this to see if it's better. Thanks! |

Thanks for giving it a try. People like KHvids supply a much needed service in providing cutscene archives capable of being easily acquired by the masses; however, they most likely captured there video using a capture card (strike 1 to quality), then re-encoded it to low standards so more people can download easier (strike 2 to quality, a resolution of only 320x240 on the video i downloaded). I know you wish there was a strike 3, but my point is my extracted video looked better when it was stretched to full screen (less blurry and pixelated) than KHvids at their normal resolution. Also the sound is the original, and personally i can hear the difference in a better bitrate audio. | |

| For the deeds of today resonate.... | Mmm... I get some of what you're saying, since I understand about ratios and all that, but the rest just flies by. I'll see if it works, since the ones that I have for those FMVs aren't the best, at least with the audio. I'm guessing these only work for those specific FMVs? |

Rep Power: 2 ![]() Level: EXP: | These extractors are exclusively for the North American release of the first Kingdom Hearts and Japanese release of first Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix. For Kingdom Hearts 2 and Re:COM the extraction is much different, and much easier since they stopped using Huffman Compression and started using PSS Compression like every other PS2 game. If you want details on how to extract KH2 or Re:COM FMV's PM me (there are actually many more FMV's to be had in those games than in the original due to their poor choice to use Huffman) Last edited by Rathaeum; September 20th, 2009 at 06:00 PM. |
