Yes. But he chose to follow darkness and apparently that acts as a repellent on the things. Kinda makes you wonder how different {greater} the story would be if he had gotten it.

If you remember in Hollow Bastion Riku attained the keyblade for a short while because he his heart was stronger than Sora's for "an instant" as Ansem said in the castle chapel.

Riku was supposed to get the kingdom key, probably because of Terra designating him as the keyblade wielder of light when he went to the islands when they were kids. However, it is interesting that, even though Riku delved into darkness, he could wield the keyblade of light. Then again, Mickey obviously is a warrior of light, and he can wield the keyblade of darkness, so I guess it doesn't matter

Indeed it was, but it ended up going to Sora because when it first appeared to be used, Sora had the stronger Heart.

Welcome to another plot hole that has yet to be filled. Hopefully this will be explained further in BBS.

Yeah well that really is backwards. Riku most probably learned the keyblade was is from Maleficent but Sora really was the delivery boy. But then his diabolical friends stopped him from getting killed and gave his heart more strength causing the KK to go to the momentarily stronger heart.

it was for riku but riku chose darkness and the keyblade chose sora instead of riku

Yes it was.
Darkness had nothing to do with it though. Riku's heart was simply weaker and made the jump to Sora. Riku thought darkness was true power and begin to rely on that over the power of his own heart.
