What is "Kingdom Hearts"?

Excuse my ignorance, but the nature of "Kingdom Hearts" itself has eluded me for my entire KH experience. Is it the door to the Realm of Darkness? Is it a place within the Realm of Darkness? I would appreciate any and all answers.

Kingdom Hearts is called the Heart of All Worlds (meh). Anyways, it's sorta the Door to Darkness because all of the hearts bundled together all have darkness (and light) in it. The door in the first game, when opened, let out all the light that was in there and darkness was supposed to stay in. It said at the machine that only light escapes and only darkness can get in.

It isn't exactly the Realm of Darkness though nor is it a piece, Realm of Darkness is dark and where all the freakish bad guys come from just like the Realm of Light is where the worlds are. It just contains a bunch of darkness of all the hearts together. Meh, that's the way I saw it, may not be a full guarantee.

I'm sorry, but could you explain a little better? I appreciate that you took time to answer my question, but I'm not sure what you meant, and I'm still not sure what Kingdom Hearts is.

I wouldn't call it ignorance because I've played the games several times, and I;m still not sure what it is exactly. It's called the Heart of All Worlds, and I believe that it is literally the heart of THE world. In KH2, the Kingdom Hearts was artificial, man-made (or should I say Nobody-made? ). We see darkness and light in KH1, so I believe the meaning there is that yes, there is darkness in every heart (except the princesses), including the world's, but there is also light in every heart. It's like human beings, we can be good or evil, the choice is ours.

according to ansem in kh1, kh is the door to darkness, and the heart of all worlds. but also, it was proven by sora that kingdom hearts is light, it also has heartless behind it(which means kingdom hearts could be the scource "corridors of darkness" that let the heartless get around the worlds).

^Yes, but as we see in KH1, "Ansem" was mistaken, which led to him being blown up . Kingdom Hearts is the door to both darkness and light. (Guess you could call it the Door to Twilight, Dawn, or Dusk?) However, the source of the dark corridors are the Keyholes, I believe. The Heartless enter through a world's Keyhole, don't they?

no, they go using the dark corridors, as explained in one of the secret ansem reports in kh2, then when they get to the world they look for the keyhole, and when they find it, they get inside it and do something to the worlds heart, making it get destroyed.

While we're at it, and if anyone is still interested in this thread, could someone also explain why the World Terminus (correct name?) was at the End of the World? Or the purpose of the World Terminus's existence when the Heartless are able to use Corridors of Darkness? I might be just over thinking it, but I just didn't see why something like that would be there. I'm still accepting theories and/or factual answers on what Kingdom Hearts itself is.
