Well if they can manage to get the dark tones of BBS mixed with KH1s more difficult play and charm I will be one happy camper. And no more flipping Agrabah! Honestly KH3 is in the back of my mind, but what people don't realize is that some of the spinoffs are super important for story development. Even the rehash Ones, CoM and Coded. Here's to hoping things go right, in DDD and KH3

Yeah, if KH3 was made to every single fan's desires, there'd have to be hundreds of different versions of the game. As long as Nomura makes the game to his own definition of perfection, then I'll enjoy it. Besides, here's a question to all those fans who don't wanna wait; do you really want Nomura to rush on the conclusion of the saga that started it all? The main team may not have the time to bring the game into physical existence right now, but I'm sure Nomura has been planning the story very carefully over these years. Plus the experience the team's gotten from making Versus will benefit KH3. So I don't care how long I have to wait. As long as I'm not 40 by the time it releases. ;)
But to answer the thread's unanswerable question...No. It will not live up to the hype. Why? Because humans are so ever unsatisfiable. No matter what we have, it's never enough. If the gameplay is AMAZING(like if it's a mix of BBS's and DDD's), then people will complain about the story. If the plot is immaculate with no plot holes and great dialogue, twists and turns that make us fans shit our pants in glee, then someone will complain about the gameplay.
Even if the game is perfect, then someone will get mad at it for not having flaws, and then make up some just to find something to crab out about.

No, wait...we're humans who spend hours of our life talking about a series of discs filled with pixelated characters and non-existent personalities that run around with characters that are generally presented to children and adored by children, that are trying to save their non-existent universe from a pedo who took over a rockhead, in which their mixed beings made trouble for another rockhead and his derpy friend...who use giant keys to beat the crap out of the cute, dark monsters who spawn from the depths of the hearts of those who fall to darkness. THEN, they have to save a pixelated derpy kid who took refuge in the first derpy kid's heart, a blue haired, pixelated teacher's pet, a black haired, gender confused doll, an angsty, derpy kid who is a copy of the second derpy kid who took refuge in the FIRST derpy kid, a pyromaniac, AND FINALLY...the rockheaded idiot who too openly trusts obviously suspicious characters and pedos.

They're just not numbered, it doesn't mean they don't have the same importance as those that are numbered. In fact, If you don't play these "spin-offs" then you miss much of the story which will most likely be fulfilled in KHIII. I doubt you'll understand the entire series if you don't play these "spin-offs", especially if "spin-off" only characters appear in a "main game", such as Xion, TAV, or the CoM Organization cast.
Spinoff: "Something derived from an earlier work, such as a television show starring a character who had a popular minor role in another show."
^that is the definition of spinoff

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is based off of Roxas, a character that was introduced earlier in KH2. It doesn't matter if someone won't understand the future titles if they don't play it. In the end, it is based off of a character that is from an earlier work. Thus, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is an spin-off...even if you don't want to admit it.

but for people who merely expect it to be better than the other 6 games we have (at least 7 by the time KHIII is released) I'm sure will be pleased.
This is implying that KH3 will be better than all of the other 6 previous games. If it is not, all of those people you just stated, will be dissapointed.

For me personally I will just be excited if KH3 is anything like KH1 and BBS. I definetly do not think it will be horrible. I am not "hyped" almost at all at this point. There is no reason for me to be. KH3 has not even been announced yet. I know there will always be people who are dissapointed, but I do not think I will be one of those people. Whenever it comes out.

    Superb~

It is quite apparent that a majority of the people who have waited over the years for a KH3 have lost interest in the games already. The hype will probably turn out to be a disappointment. I'm gonna estimate 3 more years for a KH3. Good luck to those patient enough to withstand that wait.

    hype/hīp/
    Noun:

Extravagant or intensive publicity or promotion.
    A hypodermic needle or injection.

    Verb:

Promote or publicize (a product or idea) intensively, often exaggerating its importance or benefits.
Stimulate or excite (someone): "I was hyped up because I wanted to do well".

    PS:

Wait... Hypodermic Needle Theory? diddly yes, I'm talking about that.

If anyone don't know what Hypodermic Needle Theory is, then in layman terms, it's what a lot of marketers or companies uses. They present a material to the person where a message is unknowingly planted into their head and influences their decision. In other words "I want this game. I want this game" is a result of a method of hypodermic needle theory.

It's a lot more complex than that, but it's how Hype is generated.

Overblowing excitement, eagerness for a game to come out and in most cases way overblown expectations.

After the game is then out most of these who were "over-hyped" turn into annoying, always complaining assholes who complain about every little flaw of said game. ;)

What are people really expecting KH3 to do differently other than look prettier? Have a new battle system? That's a given. New Worlds? Well no duh. A conclusion to a story over ten years in the making? Also a no-brainier.
