Thank Namine?! Spoilerific!!!

I really don't know how to take this next scene I just found out about.
A part of me is overjoyed since it means soooooo much for both Namine and SoNami in the future.
The rest of me is distressed by finding very little logic to this scene, so much that I'm confusled.

This was taken from this here translation notes, found on GameFAQS.com -

Riku: Huh?
Sora: I didn't say thank you to Namine. I never did think it would be easy to
say unless everything was set right again.
Riku: Let's finish this... You'll meet her again.
Sora: Yeah.

Now. While this makes me ever a happy SoNami fan since this shows not only that Sora remembers
Namine, but also doesn't have too much of a case of resentment against her after
what happened in CoM and beyond that - he wants to set things right with her -
I have to wonder where on Earth did his Memories of her Come back from.
This would possibly be more of a question to the novel-readers amongst us
(I'm still holding onto the hope they'll translate them some day, after all
the KH1 short stories are supposed to come out soon) but did the Memories come back
due to his reunion with Roxas? That still strikes me as odd seeing how those Memories
were Sora's, and from a time they were already separated. Namine was also
quite clear about those Memories sinking into the Darkness in his Heart, so unless
Roxas has a connection to said Darkness, I'm confused

On a side note this strikes me as odd as far as SoKai goes as well.
Seeing how Riku's word is that of God in KH2:FM+ and from what I've seen of
him saying most if not all of it came true - then Sora really will get to meet Namine again.
Unless Kairi and Namine get to separate, or at the very least switch like
Sora and Roxas seem capable of doing (albeit for short periods of time such as in
TLTW when it was Roxas who looked through the blue sphere with Hayner, Pence and Olette),
however, I think this will make SoKai into... Quite an unhealthy relationship in which
Sora'll constantly look for Namine in Kairi.
While the very concept of SoKai basing in part on would-be RokuNami -
seeing how Roxas and Namine are now back inside them - made me cringe to
begin with, I could somehow accept it as Somebodies Vs. Nobodies in that aspect.
Them criss-crossing it like that makes me twitch [/spoiler]

So, um, yeah o: takes on the matter, possible explanations, the works? And sorry if this was discussed before :S

the only reason he said "i forgot 2 thank Namine" was b/c in the very beggining of kh2 (when Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jimminy woke up) Jimminy looked into the journal and said this: "huh. there's only one sentance; Thank Namine. i wonder who that is?"

There're two points which make me disagree with that as an explanation.
Going by the 'regular version', not FM+ - he didn't seem to even recognize her, let alone realize why on Earth he should thank her.
Going by the version in FM+ that had this bit of dialog included, he seemed to not only recognize her, but remember why he should thank her. He also talks about 'setting everything right again' before being able to thank her properly. This shows this is more than just "lol Jiminy wrote it so we'll go by it". It's deeper than that.

"Unless everything was set right again" might have meant the conflict that Roxas holds with Sora and Roxas' love with Namine. Probably just all the confusion Namine made in KH2 was meant to be set right again. - siding with sunset seeker

Of course he could be talking about the CoM events that confused him to no end and that Roxas brought those links back to the light when he merged with Sora's body. If that's the case, than Roxas helped Sora remember with his 'heart' merging into Sora's to create a whole heart again. -siding with suffering angel

I agree with you on that. Wow.......how do I say it? It's all rather complex but I'll just say that:

Well, Vexen called Roxas "the other side" of Sora's heart, so maybe that's how he remembered Castle Oblivion. But Roxas himself wouldn't have any memories of the place, so I'm not sure.

I think Riku meant that Sora would see Namine again through Kairi. If he thanks Kairi, Namine will hear him, because she and Roxas still live on in their Somebodies.

I think that Sora and Roxas' memories can sometime intertwine, but they never fully come together. Like with the Twilight Thorn in Jiminy's Journal, it's there, but Sora never faced it. So if the journal entry isn't only for the completion of the journal, then maybe Sora can remember some things that Roxas has, but not fully understand or comprehend what they are. Just like Roxas seeing Sora's memories, but to a lesser extent.
