Last treasure chest

I'm at the end of the game, the only thing I have not completed is the Platinum Match with Sephiroth. There is a treasure chest on the table in the Traverse Town cafe that keeps telling me there is some secret to opening it. Is it Sephiroth? I've fought the final battle with Ansem, hoping that it was part of a cut-scene, but no such luck. If you know what the 'secret' is, PLEASE, PLEASE tell me! I've looked at every English-language walk-through and cheat guide on the whole internet and found not a single mention of this. Thanks.

Do you mean the Cafe in the 1st District? You have to use Blizzard Magic to extinguish all the candles, then the chest will be "unlocked".

The only thing you get from Sephiroth is an INSANE amount of XP points to make yourself incredibly strong.

Sephiroth gives you XP to automatically go up at least one level every time youu beat him.
And yes, use Blizzard (Blizzaga) quickly and the chest will open.
