KH:CoM to KH2

[The Forgotten One]

Hello once again. I have returned from what really has been a long time but that doesn’t matter. I’ve decided to do this post since I was able to find an English rom of Chain of Memories. Finding this rom was a mere fluke but it has been so enlightening to finally understand and have so many of my questions answered. If you have heard all what I am about to present then please do not continue but if not then read on. Also if you have already played the and passed the English version then you’ll know enough not to want to read this post.

Since I have been away for several weeks I am not up to date on the developments that have been ongoing in my absence. Therefore please be patient if I am reiterating or repeating what others have said. I apologise if I appear to copy anybodies theories, ideas or suggestions.

THE ORGANISATION
First I’ll begin by telling you what I have learned about the Organisation. You may know some or all of this already but I have not visited this forum for some time I am not aware of what has been discussed fro several weeks.

MEMBERS
I guess you’ll like to know who are the members of the Organisation, well from what I know there are 6 we see in CoM but in fact we learn of 7. The following are their names in theire respective numbers.
1. The Superior

3. ?
4. Vexen
5. Lexaeus
6. Zexion
7. ?
8. Axel
9. ?
10. ?
11. Marluxia
12. Larxene
13. ?
The number of Unknowns in the Org being 13 since many of us believe that there are 13 Unknowns in the Org.
From this there are 6 missing, 5 of which appear before Sora as we have seen in various images…however Axel may be among those since he is the only one to have survived the events in Castle Oblivion. From what Tetsuya Nomura said last year the middle Unknown in the screenshots is also the one seen in the room talking to Dis. At a point I believed Dis to be The Superior or leader of the Organisation but now I don’t think so…but more on that later.

PURPOSE
Well the Organisation’s purpose can be derived from this conversation between Axel and Larxene.

Larxene: Wow, Axel, you seem pretty intrigued by this Sora kid.

Axel: And you're not?

Larxene: I haven't made up my mind...but I'd like to know what's on yours.

Axel: He became a Heartless, Larxene — and you know what happens to people who
do.

Larxene: People who lose their hearts also lose their minds, their feelings...
They're consumed by the darkness.

Axel: Right. But that didn't happen to Sora. He held on to his feelings, even
as a Heartless. Only one other man ever managed to do that.

Larxene: So it's the strength of his heart that intrigues you — the heart
chosen by the Keyblade.

Axel: What makes his heart shine like that? What sleeps in his most secret
depths?

Larxene: The heart is a mysterious thing, Axel.

Axel: Maybe so. But unlocking its secrets is the whole reason we, the
Organization, exist.

So therefore the Organisation’s purpose is to unlock the secrets of the heart. Which means in KH2 the other Organisation members may be just studying Sora. Or they may be trying to control Sora. Or take his Keyblade for some other purpose. The Organisation's goals are still unclear.

(Interlude: by now you’re wondering why am I talking about Chain of Memories in the KH2 Section of the forum. “It is essential that you understand what happened in the past before you can understand what is to be of the future.” Well what I mean is that you must know and understand of what happened in CoM before I can tell you what may happen in KH2.)

Now I shall delve into each characters purpose in CoM. There are essentially two groups in Com. One is lead by Marluxia and the other by Zexion. These two groups are actually meant to capture Sora but Zexion decides to catch Riku because of Marluxia’s plans.

Group one; Marluxia’s group consists of Marluxia, Larxene, Axel and Vexen.
Group two; Zexion, Vexen, Lexaeus and Axel
Now character by character

Marluxia: Leader of the operation to get Sora in Castle Oblivion. Instead Marluxia planned to use Sora to take the Organisation. (what secrets does the Organisation hold that makes him want it so?) He planned on using Namine to distort Sora’s memories so Sora would become Marluxia’s puppet. However that obviously did not suffice due to Axel and his meddling.

Larxene: She also wanted to take over the Organisation but she was defeated at the hands of Sora. She was rather naïve and so her role in CoM was not of much importance.

Axel; Axel is the most intriguing character of the Organisation. He is not the hothead or insane warrior I thought him to be. In fact I have presented him as working for both sides but he is actually working for neither. Here appears to be watching Marluxia and what he plans to do. It believe he was sent by the Superior to investigate Marluxia’s plans and stop him if it was true that Marluxia was attempting to take over the Organisation. The reason Axel killed Vexen was he betrayed the Organisation and revealed to Sora too much about his heart…read the following dialogue the when Sora faced Vexen the final time and Axel killed him.

Sora: No...it's different. With Naminé, the memories of us together sort of
came drifting back piece by piece. But here, there are no memories.
Everything feels familiar, that's all.

Vexen: Does it, now? (appearing) A question, then, Sora... Which is more real
to you: your memories of Naminé, or the familiarity you feel here?

Sora: Naminé, of course! Whatever I feel here is just some trick of yours!

Vexen: Ha ha ha... The memory's wiles are cruel. In its silence, we forget. And
in its perversion, it binds our hearts firmly.

Sora: I don't have time for your riddles!

Vexen: Then recall that this place was made from another side of your memory.
Yes, the other side of your heart knows this place. The other side
remembers.

Sora: You're wrong! I don't know this place!

Vexen: If you remain bound by the chains of memory, and refuse to believe your
heart...then you may as well throw your heart away. You're no Keyblade
master, no master of anything — just a slave to twisted memories. Just
like my Riku. You're not fit to exist.

Sora: YOUR Riku? (readying to fight) You're so full of it! YOU'RE the one who
changed Riku, aren't you? Every word you've said is a lie! I'd never
throw away my heart! I'm gonna take you down and save Riku and Naminé.
THAT's what's in my heart!

You battle Vexen and get experience and the Vexen card by winning.

Vexen: Urrgh... Such strength, even at the mercy of your memory... You ARE
dangerous! You must be exterminated!

Sora: Fine, whatever! Just put Riku back the way he was!

Vexen: Put him back? Fool of a boy! Even now you understand nothing. The Riku
you speak of has but one fate — to sink into the emptiness of darkness.
And you will share that fate, Sora! If you continue to seek the girl
Naminé, the shackles will tighten... You'll lose your heart and become
Marluxia's pawn!

Sora: Marluxia? Who's that, and what do they have to do with Nami—

Axel's weapon strikes Vexen from behind.

Vexen: Gaah?!

Vexen falls to knees and Axel appears.

Sora: Axel!

Axel: Hey, Sora. Sorry to cut in right when he was getting to the juicy bits.

Vexen: Unnngh... Axel, wh...why...?

Axel: You sure love to talk. It's about time you shut up — forever.

Vexen: No... Don't do it...!

Axel: We're nobodies, Vexen. We've got no one to be — but we still "are." So
look on the bright side. You're off the hook. Now you can be nothing
instead of just being nobody.

Vexen: M-Mercy, Axel! I don't want to...go yet...

Axel: NOW you can tell me I don't respect my elders.

Axel slashes Vexen; Vexen dies and disappears.

Sora: What the... What ARE you people?

Axel: Wish I knew the answer to that myself.

Anyway it turns out Axel killed Vexen for two reason. First Vexen was revealing too much to Sora and second he needed to kill Vexen to get Marluxia to trust him. Well next Axel releases Namine to meet with Sora knowing full well that Namine would tell Sora everything. That occurs and Marluxia discovers Axel’s treachery. Axel then decides to finish off Marluxia but Sora runs in and fight Axel. From this one quote has stuck with me:

“Hmm... Listen, Sora. We've got more in common than you think.”

Anyway in Reverse Rebirth (Riku’s story of CoM) Axel after falling against Sora joins up with Zexion’s group and appears as if he is working for them the entire time however Axel uses the copied Riku who absorbs himself into Zexion. Either Axel uses this to clean up the ‘mess’ that has been left by the Organisation members or Axel is secretly trying to destroy the Organisation from the inside.

This is just part 1. Next part I’ll talk about how these things relate to KH2 and also speak of other various significant moments in KH:CoM and how they relate to KH2.

Anyway post any of your thoughts or ideas but do not completely disregard anothers persons ideas at least explain why you dislike someone's ideas.

SO....who IS Axel? i mean, what's his purpose??????? he goes around killing ppl and crashing careful plans and working for everyone and no one and fooling around with both Namine and Sora....by the way, can someone please explain to me in concise words who the heck Namine is?

this makes more and more sense as KH2 gets closer and closer.....

Naminé is just another original character created for the Kingdom Hearts series. She's a witch with the ability to manipulate people's memories.

A few "other" details:
-She's not a "part" of anyone, nor anything else like that.
-Sora and the others never met her before Chain of Memories, she just made them think they had.

people need to stop saying that Namine is/isn't part of anyone. we don't know, and evidence shows that she both could be part of Kairi and that she couldn't be part of her.

Ditto. I think DarrcEnigma is jumping to a hasty conclusion in affirming that it is definitely NOT a certain way, and I really don't think we have more evidence pointing one way than we do another, so all are still open.

Double Ditto. Everyone's ideas could be right, and by shooting them down you could be setting yourself up for a fall when the game comes out and the truth is revealed. Someone theory is gonna' be dead on, and I can't wait o see who come out on top.

Triple ditto, ! I can't wait to see what happens in KH2... When I played through Kingdom Hearts I thought it was a good game, but certainly not better than something like, say, Final Fantasy X. My fondness for KH has only grown since finishing it, though, and I've become absolutely fascinated with Deep Dive, Another Side Another Story, Final Mix and such, because I find these discussions to be very stimulating (ah, how I miss my days of debate in high school!).

I also really enjoyed Chain of Memories, even if it was really different from the original, and I'll probably play through it and R/R again before KH2 comes out, just as a refresher, in a few months.
