Xehanort lost his memory twice. After the second time he began to call himself Ansem. He actually thought he was Ansem, because before he lost his memory the second time, he banished the REAL Ansem. So under the name of Ansem, he became a nobody.

The Organization members all have "X's" in their names. The X came from Xehanort's name, Xemnas took the X from Xehanort, and added it to Ansem.

For him to take the "X" from Xehanort's name, he'd have to remember being Xehanort, but here is the thing: Xemnas doesn't remember being Xehanort.

If he remembers being Xehanort, then why didn't he go by Xehanort?
But Xemnas said he didn't remember any of that stuff, so how did he get the "X" in his name?

Um, actually, I don't mean to correct you but I think someone said once that the X represents the unknown factor.

I remember that. That was before Nomura explained what the "X" actuualy stood for.

what makes you think that Xemnas lost his memory he has the Xemnas=Ansem thing becuse he banished the real one and took his name he did not forget anything

X represents the brother-ship that the members of the organization have. Pretty sure you can find that out in the game.

Xehanort lost his memory once lol. Then, he began learning about the heart, and turned into a nobody. Xemnas knew about himself being Xehanort, just not before he lost his memory, thats all. Ansem, seeker of darkness was only interested in discoverying the properties of the heart and in the end the Kingdom Hearts created by the hearts of all the worlds. He didn't even meet his nobody, nor did he really think that there might be another him out there until later on.

So your saying Xemnas is feigning no knowledge of his past? Or does he not know at all? Is that mentioned in the battle maybe, the 5 part one at the end? And while we are near the subject, what happened to the real Xehanort? The apprentice was converted and so became the heartless Ansem from KH1 end battle, and so Sora killed him?
